    1Tonne - worth the wait

Edit: I have re-titled this thread as I slightly regret my negativity towards these guys. They're obviously dealing with some stock issues, which is frustrating, but in the end they're worth the wait. See my post below. I will leave the rest of my thread as-is below, but my opinion of the 1Tonne crew is very high.

After a bit of waiting they eventually got back to me to let me know those sizes were out of stock. That wasn’t actually my question, I responded. I’m prepared to wait for the right pair of pants (which surely will eventually be back in stock), but need to know the inseam measurements. They responded that they couldn’t give me the measurements because the pants weren’t in stock, so they couldn’t measure them – apparently they don’t know the sizing information of their own pants.

Then yesterday I proceeded with purchasing the Panther 1pc suit. Processes, paid etc. Then I got an email today to tell me that it too is out of stock. No worries I said, just let me know when it’s back in. No, they said, they no longer sell this suit.

It’s still showing in stock in my size on their website.

Do these guys actually stock anything? Every time I try to buy from them they’re out of stock. I know their gear is decent from having seen some people raving, but I can’t buy from them no matter how hard I try.

Had nothing but good service from them without any delays. It's not easy being a small business in little ole NZ, so good on you for being patient and trying to support them.

Yeah I had the same problem, I rang them with a couple questions re their gear, then wanted to carry on with a purchase down the phone, was told that it would have to be via the website. OK no probs, "if your size doesn't show up on the site....means its not in stock"
Made the purchase and payment, email the following day said the boots were out of stock, so pick another pair or your money back, so picked another boot only to be told that was also out of stock.

It must be a bugger to keep ones website up to date when your business is humming and stock is flying out the door.

Very pleased with what I did get from them, good quality for the price point

Yup, they're probably in the situation that a lot of successful small businesses are in - trying to balance the 'smell of an oily rag' approach to business that keeps costs down with investing in infrastructure like a decent e-commerce platform that has inventory management built-in. It's a tricky thing, trying to put a cost on user-experience issues like these in order to justify that expenditure.

I hope they keep it together, as all the products I've bought from 1Tonne to-date have been excellent, and I love keeping the business local too.

I'm trying but they're out of stock on everything I need. I'm going to visit my local shops this weekend, and if I can find a pair of pants and/or boots I want I'll buy them. If not I'll either buy from Revzilla or 1Tonne, depending who can get them to me faster.

I had a similar issue Mike, 1Tonne were quite happy to send Pants down to me for fitting, provided I payed for the Courier Packs. It took three Pants to get the right size, and one go to get the Jacket right. They were happy to wait until we got it right before I had to pay for the Courier Packs. The Gear is very much worth the wait ...

Due to a few of our manufacturers having production issues (not producing fast enough for my liking), we have been running low on quite a few items (race suits being in extra low volumes). Unfortunately it is still 6-8 weeks before we are back on top of this issue and by then most of the items should be back in bulk volumes.
The suit that Mike Garner purchased was a sell out suit that was at a very low price and unfortunately is was the last one and it sold the day before. So yes the website did need updating and we are sorry that is was not updated sooner.

I don't consider this thread "bad publicity". I just wanted to know if others had experienced the same service issues as me. As I understand the gear is great, if you can get it.

I hope you don't have a top job in marketing if you don't consider your opening thread to be taking a negative slant on this business - publicity-wise...read it again..you had a real bitch - and rightly so by the sounds of it. You may like the product - but have a real beef with the service...can't be good PR for a business. Product + service = satisfied. Product - service = unhappy.
