The Repsol Honda rider opted to run with the hard option rear tyre rather than the extra-hard compound used by Rossi and although his advantage of 4.3 seconds was slashed by the nine-time world champion in the final laps, Marquez says he would have been capable of fighting with the Yamaha rider 'until the end'.
It's a shame what happened, because we were having a good race. It was interesting, because our tyre choice was different from Valentino's as I felt we were not as competitive the harder compound, Marquez said.
Very mature response from MM
Just magic, that was - although it would have been a better race if Rossi had been forced to defend from Marquez after he'd passed him. Astonishing performance from the old dog. Crutchlow didn't half go well too!
Poor Horhay - he seems to have fallen off the hay cart, and just as he'd convinced me that he had the right stuff.![]()
Don't think Marquez had to touch Rossi either of those times... OTOH Rossi didn't give him a millimetre eitherAnd fair enough too... you've got to fight your corner and putting him on his arse a few times may just cool his ardour a touch. Good ride by Crutchlow. Solid by Smith again... Pol not looking quite so chirpy. Honourable mentions for Miller, Baz and Laverty. Lorenzo seems pretty subdued
WTF does Danny Kent eat for breakfast? When will the rest of the leading bunch start to realise that beating each other up when he's got a half a second gap is not going to cut it?
The first few laps of Moto2 scare the crap out of me just watching it.

Fenati kicking and punching Ajo was very naughty, so too was his leaning over and operating Ajo's kill switch. The latter though was funny.
The team boss might need to have stern words. Fenati started with a hiss and a roar but has had two quiet years, he needs to make the KTM go 'cause Rossi is unlikely to go to Honda for bikes, always assuming that Honda might supply them, which is by no means a given?
Quateraro who has still not had his 16th birthday, but is about to, can apparently live near the front quite comfortably on tracks he has never seen. Next race though is on home turf, things may be about to change?
Pol Espagero reportedly considers that he is Yamaha's star-in-waiting and that Smith is just filling in time. That might have been Plan A, but Smith keeps beating Pol so as always, Plan A is subject to change to Plan B. Similarly the thing about Lorenzo being the lead Yamaha development rider might be about to take a permenent hit if it hasn't already?
Before the season Rossi was quoted as saying that they let Marquez get away at the start of the last season, by the time Yamaha got going MM had an insurmountable lead. Rossi thought the Yamaha riders needed to stay closer to MM at the start of the season. He probably hadn't even dared think he'd be where he is now.
