If I had 8 to 9 inches and it was hard - I would'nt wake up for a 100 days and that would be too late anyway - some things are best just remembered!

Still just rain here in n.e. Chch. Wouldn't mind a couple of centimetres of snow though so I could fire up the work laptop and just work from home tomorrow.

Get out there in your car with no chains and get on the news for us Jaffas to laugh at

Dunedin is my favourite, always guaranteed to get some plonkers sliding their cars into other cars, cold must freeze up the common sense part of brain.
DeMyer's Laws - an argument that consists primarily of rambling quotes isn't worth bothering with.

Must admit we are always on full weather alert when we are in Dunedin - so easy to get trapped there! When it's cold!

Well, powers back on after 24hrs without. 8 inches of snow, the older fruit trees have taken a hit this time round. Still plenty of firewood though...
Won't be going to the CAMS meeting at levels saturday.

Word of advice for anyone whose power goes out....When you ring, ask for the call to be logged as it takes THREE calls for a fault to be official. If the call center hasn't logged the first couple of calls it WILL take longer...Fuck'em.
Three roads meet in the village here. First one - with the garage and about 10 houses got power 8.30am today. Second one - with the cafe and about 5 houses got power around 10.30 am today. But the dickheads had to come back this afternoon to do the 3rd road - with about 20 houses - because the call center hadn't booked in a fault on that line....Finally back on around 10pm.

Ah, the joys of remote living - 23 cms snow here, 27 a bit further down the road. 48 hrs power outage, folks down the road were still out yesterday. Full day shovelling snow and chjpping ice outta the drive. But fantastic scenery and photos to send to my even more remote-living children. I'm off into town, trying to avoid frozen snow melt on every corner. In my other Suzuki.

Yeah, parts of central Selwyn got hit hard. Lines guys were still replacing stuff yesterday, probably out again today too.
We've still got about 4 inches sitting - and frozen. Can't be arsed going to the workshop across ice with a crook ankle . I've got a good mate at whitecliffs who swears by his pellet fire - without power I'd imagine all he can do is swear at it....I'm leaving the fallen timber where it is till we get a thaw....I really don't fancy dancing on ice with a chainsaw

Are those pellet fires expensive to run and how reliable is the supply of pellets? - hope everyone returns to normal conditions as soon as!
