Mike Webb is right, and there are a couple of pics on Soup that confirm it. Most people would have sat it up to avoid a collision but by racing right Rossi was ahead (even if by fuck all) and correctly tipped it in.
Still and all, from the overhead shots throughout the last lap I couldn't believe Marquez made up so much ground to have a dip at the last chicane. Great racing, and the white-knuckle shitfight for the minor spots was better covered than a similar one down the field in Argentina where we could only see it going on in the distance.
The cockheads that run F1 must be starting to shit themselves...

I knew they wouldn't penalise Rossi. Marquez himself was on the green stuff inboard of the ripple strip so the argument could be almost made that HE cut the corner too!

Moto3 was a bloody fantastic finish!

Yeah. I only saw it live last night the once and thought Rossi should be penalised for cutting the track and gaining back a spot, but that's not correct. Good on the Old Dog. Was a fucking great race.

Any supposed idea of a level playing field for Rossi evaporated the day he made a pass for the lead at Honda corner under a yellow flag at PI and received a 10 sec penalty, whereas up till then and forever a pass under yellow was ALWAYS a ride through minimum with a possible stop as well. And I know a corner worker at PI who was instructed by a Dorna official quite clearly at briefing that if Rossi and another rider came to grief on their turn that Rossi was to be assisted back into the race first, no exceptions.
He has been their cash cow for years and it has always shat me that the Dorna wankers haven't had the imagination to come up with a Plan B marketing ploy to cover his eventual retirement. In saying that, he has bloody amazed me that he has modified his riding style and approach to get back to the front of the field yet again. Love him or hate him, you can't help but be amazed by him.
    Sachsenring next...

Couldn't agree more. Good luck to him. Gonna be a shitfight later in the season I reckon. Can't wait to watch it unfold.

Little doubt that Rossi is the 'Sacred Cow' of MotoGP. Make that the 'Cash Cow' as well and thus, why marginal decisions will always go to the Doctor.
It's OK to disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.

That video above certainly makes it look like Marquez never had enough room to get through and the touch sent him into wobbles too messing up his line.

That linky shows there was a gap to start with that clearly Marc thought he should have a go at, but then in the next pic Rossi has closed the gap down and I presume that was him hitting the apex on his normal line for the corner. The problem was Marc hadn't got in far enough to get ahead and really make the block pass.

he would never had made it to the front before VR shut the door.I couldnt beleive how far back he came from to get along side ,cos we know VR brakes pretty late.I am not a Rossi fan and my first thought was there might be an investigation, but when the replay showed the touch that was it.VR was pushed of line by MM and really had no choice but to take to the gravel. It woulda been a different storey if the was no touch.I reckon MM shoulda come in round the outside!,the curve may have given him the lead and the line before the touch!

Vale did that nice round the outside move on Marky a few laps before...
Marky certainly is making contact the new norm. Vale seems to be able to keep it a lot cleaner.
    Farkin good racing man.
