Hello everyone - Bike is on a ship from Japan (oakedasan)

Hi all. I just arrived in Auckland a month back and am waiting for my bike (2011 Triumph Sprint GT) to arrive in a container along with the contents of my house.

Would anyone have any recommendations on where to get the bike registered for road use here ? I won't be able to ride it as it'll still be on Jap plates. I have all the supporting paperwork. I'm living in Browns Bay so if anyone knows anywhere local please let me know ...

Once this is sorted ... I'll be looking for day ride routes as well as 2-4 ride routes if anyone has any suggestions.

    Cheers - Dave

Don't take any notice of Ol Akz, he's armless, welcome along Brian!, noice bike them, there are NZTA ,AA abd KTSA offices all over the city, get onto a computer and type them in, you'll soon find one close enough to do the business.

    Welcome Steve!

I think what caseye meant by KTSA was LTSA, not to be mixed up with the JTSA or the UNGTLAYTnA, but can be stirred with the NZTA or LTNZ unless it's a Thursday.

You right on the coast in Browns Bay Charles? Where aboots in Japan were you? Auckland is a village compared to any main (or probably minor ) center over there so I'm sure you'll be right. Enjoy!

Welcome, and hope you enjoy riding with us here.

The last time (about eight months ago) I imported a motorcycle from the country of my last assignment (South Africa), I found it best to start here

    Hope this helps

Hey yeah I'm right on the beach on BB Road (behind the Countdown)

Was in Tokyo for 8 years and the UK before that (I guess this is where the Steve/Brian etc comes from) and yeah Auckland is pretty small comparatively. I used to ride to Okutama twisties or Izu Skyline pretty regularly... so I'm looking fwd to getting my wheels here and hitting the road.

There's a Triumph dealer in Takapuna ... So I'm gonna head down there tmr and see if he can help me out with what I need to do. I've been through the NZTA website and it's endless links to links to links ... effectively the info is on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying 'Beware of the Leopard'."

So some local knowledge goes a long way

Perhaps try one of these that specialize in motorcycle compliance? Good luck

Holeshot Motorcycles, I have bought four bikes of them, they are great to deal with, Rob is the man there, he's okay for a pom
I bought a 1050 Tiger from them earlier in the year.
