    2016 North Island series

An early heads up on dates for the North Island series, we have the first two dates of the four round series confirmed and venues booked.
The GO will be held in March at Tokoroa with the date and that of the final round at Edgecumbe to be confirmed around October once the Auckland calendar has been locked down for next year.
The third round looks to be the back track at Manfeild in February once we get the details nailed down.

Round 1 5/6 December at Tokoroa
Round 2 9/10 January at Taumarunui
Round 3 TBC February back track Manfeild
    GP TBC March Tokoroa
    Round 4 TBC Edgecumbe

Once we have enough detail on the AMCC and Kart club calendars we will fill in the blanks. As usual Camping will be available at the tracks for the Kart track rounds.
One change for this year is that there will be no trophies for the Tokoroa cup at the GP, if you want to grab some silverware get a one event upgrade or a full championship licence and enter the GP.

I may be a little biased but I do suggest that if you have never been to any of these events you should consider it. If you have questions there are people in both Auckland, Wellington and Palmerston North who have been before. Tokoroa and Edgecumbe are both awesome tracks and Taumarunui is worth the trip for the camping and a swim in the river.

Prices should be in line with last year so entry $40 day licence $20 transponder hire $10 with the entry at the GP likely to be $50 to cover the higher cost of running the event if memory serves.
We have lowered the price on transponder hire this year as a way of encouraging people to run them, we will be insisting that everybody runs one.
Cross entries at the GP are at the extortionate price of nothing so to maximise your track time start looking at F5 bikes and sidecars. I may put up a small prize for the daft person class for those that enter all three GPs if more that just Malcolm and myself are dopey enough to try.

    Get fit.
I think we have usually run three races at 10, 15, 20.
This year we are trying to get people ready for the world endurance champs. Four races, 50 laps.
GP will be 150 laps of Toke, fit headlights.

Kidding, it will be much the same as last year.

As an aside I'd be keen to run sidecars as a class at the NI rounds if we can get more than two, any takers?

I could be wrong on the race distances.
10 15 20 seems sane to me for Toke. Maybe a bit short on the smaller tracks.

Yep should be able to do at least some of them in between the national rounds.

(Sidecar is so very close to race ready. Will be out to play Aug 8-9.)

It varied over the years at TOK.
I do recall last year it was briefed as 10,20,30 then cut back to 25.

I wander if (my two cents) - TOK & Edgecumbe are hard going, so maybe bring the long race forward.
    Round 1 5/6 December at Tokoroa (10,25,15)
    Round 4 TBC Edgecumbe (10, 25, 15)

    you had to get personal...
A)Yip (but there is a reason), B) want too, c) get fked!!

More suggesting that they move the longest race to the middle (no matter how many laps it turns out to be): at least then we aren't completely shot.. It would make for a more strategic racing perhaps (saving ones self for the shorter third race).

Maybe it should just be 10x 5lap sprint races...

Feeling motivated. Will miss the first round (even I would feel bad running off to race rather than attending attending a 4 year olds birthday) but feel like I will be a starter for the rest.

Better do some work on the bike.

For the record Qkkid was in my bed, not the other way round
