Angry Any idea of damage cost?

Crashed into someone today, wasn't looking.

Taking them to a panel beater soon, but any idea how much this will cost?

EDIT: The car is a 2003 Subaru Legacy B4

I used to work on the theory that if they have to open a tin of paint the minimum will be $300. There may be a surcharge for living in Auckland?

If that can be repaired you will be lucky compared to replacing the part - and using more paint.

Over $500, under $1000 would be my semi uneducated guess. No broken glass or lights which is good as they inflate the invoice quickly.

Hope you and the bike are all good? Shit happens eh.

Since you live in NZ the repair will probably cost more than the car is worth.

These are bolt-on bits - still not cheap and then they need to be painted match ... I'd say worth more than your excess ... make the claim ...

Quoted $400 for similar a couple of years back. I'm going to guess $478.90 ... assuming that it's just a panel beating and paint job.

Better to put through insurance as....

Similar thing awhile ago, family member bumped into someone at low speed, similar low level damage to shitter car owned by other party.
They wanted to score the cash value, you can bet they wouldn't actually do the repair themselves. They refused to make contact with insurance company so they got told to get lost and stop phoning up. Think they prob dodgy, or wanted persons, debtors etc.....

Take the bumper off and soak in a hot bath and push the bump out. Get a tin of colour match paint and touch it up. Refit and wait until you get another bump worth paying to get repaired. If your lucky that will be on someone else's insurance policy.

You can tell im not a car lover. I feed mine recovered oil from my bike. Strained through a sock is ok

It's just a plastic bumper, you could get it out with a heatgun. A panel shop will get an exchange bumper and paint it...and the money is in the paint. Maybe close to the excess.

Earlier this year I did some work on my daughters car - cyl head, radiator, water pump, cambelt etc. I took it to work to have a look underneath....and a truck backed into it. It was fully insured, but with the panelbeater quote of $1200 it would've been written off and she'd lose all we put into it...so I made an offer to the company who hit it of $700 and did it myself. Never done pearl before, so the guard looks like shit, so I've told her to never wash it...6 months later and it's blending in.
