    Q. A - 17% = 100

    How do I work out what 'A' is?

    A=100/(1-0.17)=120.5

    I was fine with maths until they started mixing the alphabet in with it.

    I was one of the five people out of four that failed math, sorry no help.

    120.5 - 17% = 99.65

    Are your calculations always that sloppy?

    I think its your calcs that are a bit sloppy there sport; cos that equals 100.015

    But if you want to get pedanty, the 120.5 was rounded to 1dp, 6dp would be 120.481928

    Though if we were that pedanty, one would point out the notation in the question is wrong to begin with.

    How about you write it out as you type into into a calculator and we'll see why it isn't then.

    Cos 17% of 120.5 still looks like 20.485 so far...

    Speak for yourself, rounding is pretty standard practice.

    Just how did you fuck it up btw?

    I'm picking entering 120.05 rather than 120.5.
