Out of interest, what happens if the Koru or Fern is chosen in regards to copyright?

I'm certain the gubberment takes ownership of the copyright of whatever flag represents the country, and therefore controls how it is used and I'm almost certain there will be restrictions in place limiting the use of a nations flag for private enterprise.
Will all those within NZ using a fern or koru in their logo potentially have to bend over for the big people and change, would it be granted for them to use their existing logos and but no one else is allowed to in future, or is it actually a non event and you can use our national flag in your logo without any repercussions or permission?

If the one most like the NZRU logo is chosen, would the NZRU have a case against the government, or would it be the other way where the powers can be can actually turn around and force THEM to change their logo?

but no. They use legislative instruments to depict/note a 'flag'. There are rules and restrictions (obviosuly) look it up.

I've seen something similar happen.

I worked for a company with sign-written vehicles, which used predominant blue and orange stripes - a style they had used since the 70s. Then the police changed their cars to precisely the same colours, with a similar broken stripe pattern. Suddenly, we had the police's attention - I had my own approach from a police officer concerned about my vehicle appearance. Soon after our sign-writing was changed - big brother won.
