    Yup;

    That I'll just be making the three for me.
    That'll I'll favor welding over laser cut brackets to bolt everything together.
    That they will all be SSSA versions.
    That I'll have way cooler workshop stands than all you plebs

    And that for all the talk nobody wants to open their wallets. It'd be an improvement of I was just impoverished, otherwise I would want to know more.

    I predict he will make them, post a picture on KB and we will all bombard the thread with questions of "can you make me one?" "how much"

    The main difference is the whole lot will sit on castors so they can be moved any which way.

    they need to be a shit load stronger on castors as moving sideways carries a lot more weight than front to back, also the quality of the castors needs to be solid, but given your previous thought to things thinks this is already sorted...

    Cool, I'll get some renders up once I've done the CAD stage.

    Yeh castors is what I'm working on to start, got some 100kg ones, but they are a little bulky, and I'm wanting to improve the brake mechanism; leaning towards having the stands rotate just a little more to lift up the castors and rest on the ground.

    more talking about the sideways strength if you're going to push a bike sideways, traditionally they roll forward/backward, the stands have a triangular structure giving it stregth, how are you going to introduce this strength at 90 degrees to the bike?

    Even when pushing sideways a lot less strength is required, the triangle in the main direction is to support the weight, and the levering action. And since it will be on castors it will just roll anyway, so the max sideways force you can put on it will be less, but it will be put on it more often ofc, I'm sure large diameter tube/box will suffice.

    i've seen your work so know you're pretty diligent, one thing to consider is not all workshop floors are floated, clean and spotless concrete s, that's the hardest thing about my shed, even just debris lying around. i've looked at these too and wondered how to get over this issue

    Cheers. Yeh, I've found these castors do pretty well on that (mine often gets a bit of swarf spread around). Were it a showroom version on marble floor (one day) they'd be ball transfers instead. My 'spidey' sense still reckons there is an elegant way I haven't thought of yet, so I'm working on a different project this weekend.

    do you need both ends to be on castors? maybe front standard and the rear multi directional, that would make sense to me.

    I prefer both on castors, and they were cheap...

    Well, you motivated me to at least buy castors for my effort. Just the 4, though.

    We'll see if I can get something actually pressed up when I get back from holiday.

    Nice, I allocated 5 per so the rear stand can roll around on three by itself.
