Got a 2004 Vrod stored in LA, with a Trask turbo (fitted at the Trask facility in Phoenix a few years back).
Been a very reliable bike since I bought it in 2010; done LA-Sturgis and back twice since then (and not the direct routes) with no issues, plus a goodly number of runs PHX-LA and PHX-LV and back, along with an excellent chunk of Route 66 when I was on a longer term US assignment. It's both quick and a great touring bike too (has hard bags and a longer-range tank and assorted helpful farkles I've added) and I'd like to bring it home but... I wouldn't like to ship it here and then not get compliance.
Question: anybody on KB brought in an aftermarket-turbo'd bike and got compliance without issues? Would help me to know. Thanks!
I did ring the NZTA to inquire and, as expected, told me 'twas up to me to bring the bike here and if it gets an LVV certificate then I can get a WOF and reg; if not, then not.
(There is a turbo'd 2009 Street Glide for sale on TradeMe right now but it's not registered. Another turbo'd Rocker also on TM but as the rear tyre's got a decal still on it in the pic does not look like it's got any street miles either. So I'm wondering if NZTA is just against turbo bikes).
