poverty is funny now well its all right those kids living in poverty will be glad to know that you would suggest for them to eat cake
    Then you used it incorrectly.

In case it's not obvious, my logic is that children can never be poor. No matter how distorted the definition the income of any family is the responsibility of the adults in the family.

    And nobody else.

Face it, dude, it takes a special effort be actually poor in NZ, after you've managed to avoid finding someone willing to pay you for providing some service or other you also have to avoid the veritable avalanche of benefits designed to prevent you from facing the consequences of your failure.

There's something to be truly cheerful about: no labour party govt to convert such spin into yet more increases in those benefits in their usual pre-rigor mortis twitch response to such transparent bullshit.
You really are a pompous supercilious pedant .... cunt.

Nah. He was using pedant as a noun so it was correct ... he just double nouned you at the end there ... that's all.

Oh, I'm only here for the gramatical stuff ... not the merits either way of your argument

Are you familiar with the Robbie Burns statue in Dunedin's octagon? - You know the one with the Mona-Lisa smile and the constant seagull shit on his head?

Twas he who said - "Would that God the gift to give us to see our selves as others see us"! - Hmmm or was that Stewie Griffin from Family Guy? (whatever)

We had two plaques either side of our coal range mantel when we were kids I.E. "When two quarrel both are in the wrong"! (then we got a hiding)

The other one said - "Cheer-up the best is yet to come"! - Funny it always goes through my mind when I see this thread of yours!

It gives me a reason to feel cheerful.

Yep ... Little Miss 9 wore the big smile at the end and Grandma even got a lovely photo of it.
I stopped after about 4 minutes at an intersection after a couple of long sweepers and asked if she was OK. "Yeah" (in a tone of why the hell wouldn't I be). "This is FUN!"

So cool (but still quite nerve racking for the pilot).
