No Drew I don't believe it's my right to use inaccurately measured power, the old meters recorded all that the electric co wanted it to and some, they always erred on the side of the "house so to speak". But the new smart ones measure more accurately they say and yes it was my experience and that of many customers that the new ones got the electric co more money.
Every day above ground is a good day!:
Meh. I always liked that the bills are consistent month to month rather than tiny every second month as the "estimate" and then huge the following to compensate.
i'm a sparky and have had a few people whose power bill climbed a bit. the new ones are accurate, the older ones would have a margin of error in them a bit like ya speedo, as the power companies didn't want to get caught with one overreading they erred on the side of caution. only thing is once we all have them and they recover the margin of error, they make more profit and won't pass it back to us as a user...
I love the smell of twin V16's in the morning..
It would be a huge laugh, if he quoted that report on Cancer ill health and EMF that was done in the states by Wertheimer and Leeper.
It was basically a phone poll with no quantifiable data.
it was totally discredited.
Most peoples clock radio next to peoples bed gives off more gauss than a 110KV line in a backyard does.

interesting on that alcohol and cancer thing. Though in my 30 seconds of giving a shit about it the terms i find are "an increased risk factor" not "a known carcinogen"
ahh radar, that ghz band// wait. What?
So, what frequencies do you work with? What are your sops? Daily exposure limits? Cumulative/annual exposure limits?
Do you sleep with it beside your head? Have you done this over a statistically relevant time period against a control guy?
Truly, im fascinated.
Im not sure why you bring hv into it. Thats some irrelevant distracto bullshit. Unless you install hv smart meters?
Have you tried measuring your voltage intake while standing near a transformer?
What i do? Pretty much whatever the fuck i want.

Yeah .. but put all the bullshit aside (We had a smart meter installed - turns out it transmits data back to the power company via Vodafone - and we get no Vodafone reception at home .. Haha ...)
We now have a flashing red light on the meter that runs all the time - using power ...
Smart meters use more power than the old analogue meter ...
Someone has to be paying for that extra power use .. Guess Who !!!
PS .. we still get an "estimate" power bill .. then a top up big bill after three months, when they come to read the smart meter (how smart is that?) .. but my wife reads the meter and only pays for what we use ... In the past we have had a largish bill for two months - then a third month bill which was in credit because their "estimates" were bullshit. Happened more than once. The power company said they were happy for us to pay for what we thought we had used, rather than the amount on the bill.
However the dopey shits have never changed their estimate to something based on what we actually use - rathrer than what they think the average NZ household uses ...
