To add to my earlier comment - if the guy grabbed your collar first (which wasn't clear in the OP) - then that constitutes turning it into a physical altercation, and IMO you would be justified in taking a swing.

While there are a whole bunch of people most weeks that id quite like to & be quite able to give a punch in the lip because they seriously deserve it, the drama that ensues just isn't worth the trouble, as demonstrated here.

Contact the council too and see if they have any spy cameras pointing in the direction of the action. Only use the footage if it is to your advantage of course ....

Places exist (boxing clubs etc) where you can go and do that and test your skills against someone hell bent on doing it to you - it's fun!

but ok, one o ya's must be a waimo and the other from ommers, otherwise this would never have happened, when did they make the old quarter a one way system, don't remember it being one way and i never really left the cri intoxicated

Not from Ommers myself (nor Waimo) but as long as ive been here its been a one way down the street next to the Cri.
