    GP100 Break in

so i have just had my suzuki gp100 it has been fully rebuild top and bottom end i have put about 150ks on it using less than 2/3 throttle (only 1/4 for the first 50)
not using too many revs blah blah blah heres the thing i was wondering when i can use full throttle and get into the powerband the mechanic that rebuilt it said 500ks
is it really that much, Cheers

Everyone will have a different opinion, I would think its pretty well run in at 150ks
My neighbours diary says I have boundary issues

It is important not to overheat the aircooled engine during this process. You'd be surprised just how much the cylinder is shrouded and why it is vital to spend as much time as possible with the of front elevated when at low speed. Try clutching it up in 2nd and snick third. Always cover the rear brake.
Don't you look at my accountant.

OK then. Try packing the rear hub with duct tape to take out the slop. Really.

Meh - you are doing fine with your run in.

Don't labor the engine in a too high gear - better to let it rev than lug it around like a HD.

Don't thrash it when it is cold.

Don't sit there idling for a long period to warm it up - fire up put on helmet and gloves and ride off using moderate revs until it is warm.

500 kms? more likely implying don't constantly thrash the shit out of it until that mark

To be fair most 100's are thrashed from new and survive well.

Yes, but it's not specific to your case...

What I'd like to know is,

Why don't you trust what the engine builder told you ?
Who did it and what is the piston ?
What clearance in the bore ?

I have personal experience of cheap aftermarket pistons in small 2 strokes which needed many heat cycles before they could be run hard...and then needed cleaning up on the high spots too.
