    Rio Olympics.

Is anyone interested at all about these games?.
Might be different if I knew someone competing. If this article is anything to go by, the water sports are going to be in the shit,

The last line from the story,
World Sailing, the governing body of the sport, said it was "not in a position to comment".
Probably been told to 'shut it', or else.

Brazil took a gigantuous financial dump during the world cup couple of years ago. What's worse than one giant white elephant..? Two giant white elephants...

I'll have my popcorns ready for this one

All the good stuff will be on Sky TV. We'll get some stuff on free-to-air, but it will probably be like 10 solid hours of fucking lawn bowls or somesuch.

One could make the argument that it does in 2 ways:

1: By providing a mechanism for a select few to reach the pinnacle of human achievement thus creating fitter/faster/stronger genes to be disseminated into the Gene pool (ala Tiger Woods)
2: By providing inspiration for the greater masses to improve their own fitness at an amateur level - leading to a healthier stock of humans.

3: it's a nice distraction, keeping the brain dead masses entertained.
simple question, why did the Soviets modify a air-raid shelter into a gas chamber? what was their intention?

I'm sure greater public appeal would be had if the Olympic committee included javelin catching, shot put catching and discuss catching...

    What is wrong with entertainment?

Anyway before every olympics there are countless articles about the olympic venues not being ready/suitable/safe. They always are.

    .
Yus, get the kids off the couch.

The Olympics has lost it's luster like a lot of professional sports through politics, cheating, back room deals and bull shit. Unless you follow a specific sport or athlete it's just an advertising platform.

But, yeah, na. The heroes and heroines who inevitably pop remain an inspiration.

    I shall be following retrospectively.
