In the 80's? They were deep into the fallout from a couple of decades of tax and spend about then, they seemed to have moved back to a more functional policy when I last looked, about the turn of the century.

A friend emigrated here largely because of their wee extreme socialist experiment of the time. Went back to catch up with family a decade ago and couldn't believe the improvement.

Married a kiwi, which probably qualifies as his "thing you do when you're young".

Congratulations Blackbird and partner, Our generation appear to be stayers or maybe just not give in easily when things get a bit tough, I have been with my gal since 1973.

Hey Mixone, I thought the same, started off Ok down here, but then the rain came.

Thanks Old Slider and congrats to you too. The only visible mark on me is her thumbprint on my forehead . She's still the best pillion I've ever had on any of my bikes. She drew the line on coming on the back of my Street Triple as it would have crippled her and ditto for the current GSX-S 1000. I'm quite happy about that arrangement

I envy you, my girl swore (in several ways) that she would never get on the back of a bike again after a tortuous trip from Wanganui to Wellington on the TS 250, pouring rain, extremely cold etc, that was in 1976, lol. some how managed to do the same when she asked to come hunting, took her into some really steep papa type country, wet and slippery, she never asked to come hunting again.

This surprised me. Somewhat against the run of relentless health hysteria.
