'Fuck yeah' is right. You have to carry gearbox parts as part of your tool kit. That's awesome bro.

So the boy has finally passed his restricted test, so the $1k shitbox can go now that we don't need a manual car any more.

Notwithstanding the ongoing dispute about the results of previous driving tests with the bitch from VTNZ who seems to make up undocumented reasons for failing driving tests, which falls into the 'don't start it, I'll fucking finish it' category, and if you try and bullshit your way out of fuckup you're just digging a bigger hole....

Now the fucking trademe machine won't let me credit my account so I can advertise the now surplus car for sale.

    Fucking internet.

    Time for more beer.

Already a grumpy old fucker, and not accepting it.

At $80 bucks a go, when people start making shit up as reasons for failing driving tests, the bitch in question requires at least retraining if not sending down the road, as I said don't fucking start with me because if I know I'm right I'll fucking finish it....

Tipping becoming more and more "suggested"

Has anyone else noticed (haven't read through this entire thread so apologies if this has already been covered) how more and more eating establishments are asking "and would you like to add a tip for your waitress?" when you go to pay the bill?
While I appreciate decent service, I do expect that the waiting staff are being paid their worth by their employer. Possibly there are some who deserve to be paid less; but shouldn't these workers wages be enough? It irks me that this Amercanism is creeping in when New Zealand has never, to my knowledge anyway, been a country where tipping is expected.

I simply state "no" and pay my bill. No one has ever challenged that decision, although maybe some cashier staff are uncomfortable asking to begin with. Is it a hospitality industry requirement now (like staff in clothing shops being required to try and "extra sell" other items with what you have purchased)?

If I ever do get asked why I'm not prepare to tip my waitress I'll respond by asking "why, are you not paying her/him what they are worth to do good job?"

In some countries it is considered an insult to tip as the staff take pride in the job they do, and the fact that they do it to the best of their ability.

What is going on here? Anyone in the industry able to shed light?

I've never been asked, but I do see a lot of tip jars in cafes and bistros. I agree with you, which reminded me of this video about tipping I saw a few months ago

Having lived in the States, you are expected to tip there, regardless of the service. It does seem an odd thing to do for us kiwi's, but after a while you do get used to it ( i.e. when in Rome etc ). They do look after you in restaurants , bars, etc, as in they go out of their way to make sure your dining/drinking experience is a good one., much more so than in NZ. For example, in a pub , the only reason I had to get up was to piss ( never to go 2 the bar and get another beer ) they bring it to you. Also in restaurants, you typically get as much soft drink as you want at no extra charge, but you kinda are expected to factor this into the tip.

So, I have no problem tipping in the US , but here, I doubt the staff do anything above and beyond to deserve it.

If you do get crap service or are generally unhappy with the establishment/food ( in the State ) , etc, to tip 1 cent ( a US penny ) is considered way more insulting than not tipping at all!
