Hey there, what do you guys think about running one of those 140cc pitbikes with some slicks on for bucket racing? Sometimes theyre available for sweet f/a, got disc brakes, mono rear shock and probably about 13hp? Good idea?

That thread is an interesting read. Bucket racing rules are interesting too. The part where it says that the bikes arent meant to be dirivitive of moto enduro etc is interesting, on account of where does that end? Can somebody race a tf125 or ag100 because theyre derived from enduro bikes?
The idea of bucket racing is appealing but the whole proliferation of the "buy a fxr150 or you may as well not bother" mentality is slightly offputting. As well as that its about 2k for the base bike before mods, so not really a bucket of shit. Thats my opinion though, and opinions are not good for much hahaha
But thanks for the link and the clarification, was a good read.
It is what you derive yours from that is important. And that rule ends when the bike is no longer made by the factory for competition, you would be pretty safe with an old TF farm bike.
Why ride the same old same old easy piesy FXR150 as everyone else, because there is plenty of scope for a clever builder to make something really interesting if they want to, like a supercharged 100cc 4T or Turbo 70cc 2T, maybe even a fuel injected de stroked turbocharged pitbike like engine or CVT scooter engine in a special frame. The list of possibilities for the clever young buck are endless, that is the beauty of Buckets.
Buckets is a competitive sport and like anything competitive it requires some effort. So the real question is, how clever do you feel.
I do have a ported piped and carbed ag100 that ive cobbled together going green outside haha
Haha itd need a brake overhaul and maybe some completely non shagged suspension
.
As a matter of interest. The engines in the front running F4 bikes here at Mt Wellington are:- an engine from a 50cc commuter bike with an oversized and ported cylinder, a FXR150 and an engine from a TF125 farm bike. All of them have won A grade races.
