Had a good yarn with Ian Staples at Manfeild on Friday.
His chair with the RSV1000 lump is pretty cool. The front end is pretty fucken different.
He was asking if it was ever discovered as to why our new chair had the chassis box shaped the way it is. I'd pondered the same thing, bit never asked. He thinks it was built for a 600 to have a supercharger hanging in the triangle space beside the motor.
That's a cool idea, but I don't really understand why anyone would do it.
The engine mounts support the idea that it's meant to be an F2. The rear mounts line up with the R1, but the top mount needs a plate to get the hole to line up.
More likely a dry sump pump and plumbing. The ZX14 I rebuilt for Kicks sponsor had a multi stage pump driven off the side which was bleeding enormous.
I really wouldn't have wanted to package that in a chair - but a car, no probs.
Yes Drew, your outfit did have a supercharged 600, until the concept was banned & it was re powered.
Just thinking, & Not being a smart arse, but seeing as the outfit is an absolute one of, it may be worth doing a measure up & record of the vital chassis specs, so if in the unlikely event it got bent, you would have some numbers to straighten it out too.
