    Success!

So called a guy from TM for an immaculate maroon GN in Waimate only to find he had sold it within 4 hours of listing.
After a quick yarn said see ya later to the chap, he texts me a few hours later saying he's got a mate with a mate with one thats got fuck all ks on it and has been in storage for 5 years. 6 hours later we have it safely nestled in my shed which is looking cramped!

Yup real nice chaps do deal with.

Gave it new oil, plug etc yesterday. Unfortunately munted the drain screw on the carb so need to fix it up to fit it back in, should start up a treat once the float bowl stops pissing everywhere though

Using the screw driver from the GN250 tool kit. Got it out fine but its counter sunk n the end of the thread is rooted. Can't just grab a random screw unfortunately.

    Yes, I know, dick head.

Ah, so it's the head that's buggered. I was thinking it was the other end and couldon't work out how that would happen.

They shouldn't need to be very tight. Does it not have an O ring?

Nah just a knob thing that sticks out the bottom. Wont need to tighten much just needs to block the hole

There's a plain taper on the end of the screw, with a matching taper at the end of the hole it screws into. Did you check there's no shit in the hole Jamie?

Yup the screws at fault, some fulla cut an x down into the taper with a dremmel which it doesn't like much

The taper is that non-threaded bit on the end..if it seals correctly, no fuel sits against the threads.

So I went to Autech's place this arvo to check out his wife's new bike, and hopefully rectify the leaky carb situation.
The drain bung screw was fine, however the float valve was sticking and worn, causing fuel to piss out of the overflow once the bowl filled up. Just so happens that the bowl drain and bowl overflow come out the same hole...adding to the confusion.

Diagnosis: new float needle valve and seat, and it should be ready to terrorise the streets once again.

Sidenote - it's the tidiest road louse i've ever seen, with only 8400km on the clock
