Also price up a replacement set of rotors from Repco or the likes as they can sometimes work out the same or even cheaper than skimming existing ones.

Never bothered having discs machined, just pop down and see the nice man at BNT and buy new ones.

Last 2 cars it was a bit over $200 for new rotors and pads.

older/ bigger vehicles generally have more meat to wear, meaning they can be machined.

Newer ones parts are pretty much disposable. check first as wear limit may be close, and if you go past it, and your brake pads fall out...

Yeah it’s a land rover so parts will be pricey but I’ll check nonetheless. Cheers

If it's a landrover - you may want to check the disk sizes - the on-car disk lathes can only accomodate a rotor of a certain diameter AND a certain width of braking area - some of the bigger cars (such as BMW SUVs for example) had disks that were either too large in terms of diameter or the braking area was too deep for the lathe tips.

Had something similar on my son's car, discs and pads were worn to limits and the brakes were sticking on because the pistons were coming out too far and jamming on an angle.

Which suggests that if you machine your discs, you might not get your money's worth from your disc pads.....
