I'm not trying to start another KB shit fight, I'm genuinely interested. I have recently discovered just how undemocratic the US Senate is. And that's before you consider the vote suppression and gerrymandering that goes on there.

MMP is more democratic than FPP so I guess that means you'd like a system of referendums? Having observed the Brexit fiasco I'm currently not sure that's a great idea. Mind you, normal people might expect at least minimal competence from their representatives, sadly the people of Britain did not get that,.

Yeah me too re America . But was shocked to understand the House of Lords in the UK. Jeezuz unreal in this day and age but how big it was not long ago and you inherited the position.

No political system is perfect but maybe in the future electronic binding referendums could be cheap and secure and give the voting population some say where now we have fuck all don't fool yourself if you vote for Burning Bridges or Jacinda Overbite they won't do some fucked up stuff that is bad for the general public.

That said whoever said voting was wasted on the great unwashed had a point. We'd be sharing our democracy with Lion Red guzzling McDonald customers.

Vote Azxle or whatever he used to call himself.
Don't you look at my accountant.

Something I read recently suggested the House of Lords is still a good deal, they can drop in, eat a slap up lunch with nice wines all on the tax payer, then doze the afternoon away while getting payed handsomely for doing so.

On the other hand when the lower house is populated by congenital idiots, as it seems is currently the case, an upper house can sometimes put the brakes on excess stupidity,

There was some disbelief recently when a Tory politician on TV expressed the view that any English person can go to Ireland and request an Irish passport - because they are English. And people wonder why the government fails to grasp the seriousness of the problem created by a hard border between Ulster and the Republic?
