Trump is making Republicans nervous with his talk of using emergency measures to introduce a tariff on goods from Mexico.
It's not just the price of guacamole or tequila they are worried about, it would be bad for business - and complicated.
Some American goods are partly manufactured in Mexico, others are sent to Mexico in parts and assembled there. In more complicated industries, such as the car industry, components sometimes travel back and forward across the border more than once.
Tariffs on Mexican goods would effect American manufacturers. Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, Lincoln, and Jeep all build or assemble vehicles in Mexico. (So too do Nissan, Toyota, Mazda and Honda from Japan and Fiat, BMW, and VW from Europe.)
Trump, who doesn't even seem to understand how tariffs work, can't see a problem. Other people, including Republican politicians, can.
