What has been done to the US over the last 40-50 years by their own government and politicians is downright criminal/treason! And is the single reason they have such huge problems right now.

As Trump himself said previous admins have let the chinese get away with murder of the US economy by stealing intellectual properly and even outright spying to gain weapons tech. Previous admins just basically let them do it. As Trump said thats not the chinese fault if they are basically getting gifted this stuff for nothing. But he's going to stop it.

It wasnt just the chinese either. The awans pakistani spy thing in congress had access to half the dems blackberries. All kinds of ridiculousness has been going on and its Treasonous because some of these congressmen and woman have been knowingly letting them do it.

Wont the "smart" farmers just diversify into other produce?

My grandfather managed to go from just sheep to sheep/dairy/peas/ in 90's when sheep farming became practically a waste of time due to the price of wool and lamb.

Only the farmers that dont have any foresight and are unable to adapt will have major problems with what is going on.

the problem isnt the economics of the farming system its the stupidly of their elected president starting a trade war when he docent understand or care about the repercussions of it.
The quickest and easiest fix is to vote him out.
The crops have been planted and the problem is what to do with them now they are an important part of the crop rotation as they are legume.
I can see Trumps oli company mates thinking that 35% of the worlds supply of soya beans should be turned into biofuel either

Farming has worked in cycles like this from boom to bust for a very long time. Any old timer farmers know this and know how to adapt to the times.


IMO Jacinda and Greens intentions with the NZ dairy industry are a far bigger deal (and more evil in intent to us here in NZ) than the necessary re-balance that Trump is trying to achieve. Sure what Trump is doing will effect things over the short term a great deal. The big picture is not having a Chinese superpower dictating to everyone around the world what they can do and say because left unchecked thats where it was headed.

In simple terms, so you can at least attempt to get the gist of it, it is about the Trumpster wanting a bigger slice than China, and North Korea and everyone else. He wants the best deal possible from everyone else without acknowledging that he has to compromise. And if eveyone else gets a shitty deal, then he will feel that he has won.

Trump started a war he he simply can't win. Hes too stupid and arrogant to negotiate his way out if it either as he doesn't understand for a business deal to work it has to be win win for both sides, which requires both trust and compromise.
Hes also managed to alienate all the rest of his biggest trade partners. SO he should expect any support any time soon.
