I have observed that for many, motorcycling is no more than a passing fancy, which is what flying turned out to be for me.

The American comedian George Carlin, describes it nicely when comparing interests and hobbies:
"A hobby costs money" whereas "an interest is free".

Boats ... are an expensive way of getting wet. And a hole in the water you pour money into.

Motorcycles ... are an expensive way of sitting in a draft. And getting wet. If a hole in the water is caused ... you're doing it wrong.
