Watched the ABC News, some discussion about why the Capitol wasn't better protected. A very good question.
But then maybe no one expected the president to tell his mob to stop the election count.
Also discussions about invoking the 25th amendment, although that could really start something. But they will have to keep Trump under control for the next 2 weeks somehow.

Twitter have removed some recent Trump tweets and locked his account. They've also stated that if other tweets are not removed the account will remain locked. A good move if four years late.
The alternate universe inhabited by the MAGAts continues. According to comments on Parler the insurgency today was a false flag operation, the rioters were Antifa in disguise. Never mind that many of them looked as if they had just walked off the set of Duck Dynasty.
Two hours after the start of the curfew the Police are clearing the insurgents away, but CNN just reported that the "patriots" say they will be back "with rifles."
In the circumstances the correct response to that would be snipers and machine guns but...
Many people now, including Republican politicians, are calling for the 25th Amendment to be invoked. Some say that could be messy and an immediate impeachmet would be cleaner. Reportedly Pense is running things now, they might as well make it official.

What happened? I was off being less bored somewhere else. Did the people get angry? Did the representatives of the people tell the protect and serve guys to go kick the peoples' ass? Just investigate the fucking election, and when you do, make the data available for anyone to read real-time. T'Would remove the confusion for the data concerned. Maybe add in a little suggestion that someone made a while ago about a kind of town cryer who announces some level of vote information for all to see and hear etc... Investigate the damned election or rerun the fucker exceptionally transparently. How else do ya avoid the police/army etc... being told to do their job and execute someones' side pick. They've printed fuck knows how much for Covid response, despite homelessness and various other poverty issues etc..., as well as a few overseas funds to the tune of trillions of the final Bill is to be believed, yet it's a no to spending money into the economy to sort something out, like an election that's at the seat of it all, that has the potential to take the U.S. into a civil war. Not sure who's running the place, but fuckin' hell are they dumb. Do. It. Again. And. Avoid. All. Agro.

In case you missed it, Trump started the election fraud story before the 2016 election because he expected to lose. It's all in his head, although he has managed to convince millions of his followers that it actually happened in 2020.
No inquiry will ever change their minds unless Trump says it ain't so.

The Trump protestors did NOT block motorways and harm innocent bystanders...
They did NOT commit ARSON and burn hard working small businesses to the ground...
They did NOT loot Nike stores as they have jobs and pay for their own stuff...
They did NOT erect a border wall....
They did NOT burn police stations....
ITV news has a pretty good unbiased clip about 7mins long with footage inside building.
Aside from the police shooting a female protestors it was all very non violent as far as political protests go, sure few broken windows and doors....

I’ve supported the president’s right to use the legal system, dozens of lawsuits, perceived hearings in courtrooms all across our country. But over and over, the courts rejected these claims — including all-star judges whom the president himself has nominated. Every election we know features some illegality and irregularity, and of course that’s unacceptable. I support strong, state-led voting reforms. Last year’s bizarre pandemic procedures must not become the new norm.
But, my colleagues, nothing before us proves illegality anywhere near the massive scale — the massive scale — that would have tipped the entire election. Nor can public doubt alone justify a radical break, when the doubt itself was incited without any evidence. The Constitution gives us here in Congress a limited role. We cannot simply declare ourselves a national board of elections on steroids.
The voters, the courts and the states have all spoken. They’ve all spoken. If we overrule them, it would damage our republic forever.
This election actually was not unusually close. Just in recent history, 1976, 2000 and 2004 were all closer than this one. The electoral college margin is almost identical to what it was in 2016. If this election were overturned by mere allegations from the losing side, our democracy would enter a death spiral. We’d never see the whole nation accept an election again. Every four years would be a scramble for power at any cost. The electoral college, which most of us on this side have been defending for years, would cease to exist, leaving many of our states with no real say at all in choosing a president. The effects would go even beyond the elections themselves.

Rudy Giuliani is the gift that keeps on giving. There were reports that Giuliani and Trump were calling politicians who had been expected to support Trump's call to object to the normal process of confirming the election result. This with the object of shoring up support for Trump's cause.
Rudy has a reputation for butt dials and wrong numbers. Again, intending to call Senator Tuberville, a new senator who is startlingly ignorant of the American political system, Rudy dialled a wrong number. He left a long message on the phone of another senator. The recorded message is now on Twitter in full.
