Exactly. There was research years ago in the USA that showed it was relatively rare for a newspaper publisher to instruct editors what to print. The editors tended to print what they thought the owner would want, so the owner didn't have to interfere.
Now some of the world's major newspapers are owned by Internet billionaires rather than people with a history of newspaper publishing. God knows what's happening now, but human nature being what it is, there's probably no great change.
It’s a bit like how transport industry works. Bosses are smart enough not to tell drivers to speed or overload, but the team culture drives guys to do it to help workmates out.
And if you don’t “ make it happen” every fleet has an old shitter truck that will suddenly become yours. Things are slowly changing though thanks to new enforcement tools...
I had a couple sentences removed by an advertiser once. Despite it being an illustration of how great their back up service was and that the customer was pleased about (things will break even on newest gear, manufacturing tolerance and all etc) the outcome and recommended them it had to go.
