I watched the documentary on Tesla autopilot. Elon decided that cameras were like eyes and humans only needed eyes to see so why do Teslas need both radar & cameras. So they dropped radar from the teslas. Don't drive at night or in low visibility environments then? I'm interested in film/camera work etc... so I wanted to see quality of the Tesla cameras. Some you tubers have uploaded video footage from their teslas and its very poor quality, like old camera phones with bad colour quality. Now they're relying only on the cameras, I hope they're using better quality cams (5MP for hardware version 4 doesn't seem like much when a phone can have 40MP!)

I never heard of Tesla dojo so I did a quick google (something that more people should do before they comment!) and found its teslas supercomputer. Probably for processing all the data that gets sent from the guinea pigs driving teslas.

It started running over motorbikes because of that, the AI think a single red taillight was two distant taillights close together etc. Apparentmy it’s mostly running over Harley’s o far....

Musk erred in referring to 'auto pilot'. Fuckwits took him seriously. Other brands refer to things like "driver assist" which doesn't persuade the owner to sit in the passenger seat or read the newspaper on their morning commute.

Tesla cameras, in addition to cyclists motorised and otherwise, don't perform well with people of darker skin tone or with eighteen wheeler truck and trailer units if they are painted a similar colour to the background. And yes, a Tesla fatally drove its owner under a truck painted a similar colour to the sky at the time.

Perhaps Tesla will not be with us much longer. Every major car manufacturer will be making electric cars and many will be better than Tesla.

Can't argue with that, he over-hyped and oversold a technology he couldn't deliver. Those on the hype-train can't see it (or choose not to) but I feel their days are numbered too. Already major manufacturers have got competent EV pick-ups on the market, even new brands like Rivian have delivered product, and quality product too. Ford have been smart and given their regular F-150 a dedicated EV model and it's priced very well against the competitors and being praised. Tesla have nothing new to offer except a renegade leader.

Yes several astute commentators have already talked about that, you can’t buy the experience and know how of the likes of Toyota or Ford etc in making an international distribution network efficient from finished product right through to raw material Sc etc.

Also Tesla wants you to buy online only and no one else allowed to fix the car excerpt them. The billion dollar company that behaves like a California startup....

    You don't service Teslas intermittently

You update over the air online at home like your phone because you don't have an internal combustion engine.

Tesla don't use dealership, it cuts out the middle man unless you want to pay extra for a sleazy car salesman commission, so your buying directly from the source.

I have to service my CBR at Honda motorcycles, it's under a new vehicle warranty , same with Tesla

I own 2 Teslas.. because I can (and I'm wealthy)

There is no doubting he's achieved a lot, but the promises of Tesla that will never be delivered on are not one of them. And that's what was being discussed.

    Never?

All the above he has delivered in just over 13 years, much more is to come

Never implies it's never going to happen

One thing I've learned by investing in Tesla for many years is Musk is always late on his promises but he always delivers.

Ok I'll agree, never say never. But after talking to a good friend of mine who has a quite a strong grasp on this sort of tech, where I once thought he could deliver on his promises I now understand why it's less likely rather than more likely to eventuate.

Bill Gates said a 800km single charge Semi Truck is "never" going to happen

Tesla delivered it's first to customers last week

It moves of the line the same speed as a car,

Efficiency carrying 37ton uphill with power and down hill with the same slowing power

    70% charge after 30 minutes

The first prototype was 5 years ago, I'm confident that
if the world wasn't locked in cages the last few years (China still is) Tesla would be much further ahead in its mission to wipe out the internal combustion engine.

I think your friend should he ever get the chance, take a holiday to Texas and pay a visit to Space X and the Tesla Giga factory, it's truly amazing what these kids (30ish,) are achieving as engineers.

The world is in safe hands if these kids lead the way after Musk is gone.
