Bit late for a Friday entry but took the boat out yesterday morning on the west coast, all went well at the start.
Had to come back in early for an emergency - low tide…didn’t notice the ramp was far too slippery with algae and I had to reverse right down to the concrete edge lip of the ramp (about 300mm from the lip).
When I winched it all the way up, had to grab something off the boat, left it In park with handbrake on, Ute started slipping and rear wheels dropped over lip, had to jump back in and slam the brakes.
Changed it to 4 wheel drive followed by a brief fight to get traction up off the ramp.
And the worst part - a couple people were watching the whole ordeal, got it done but heart skipped a beat!!

Kind of relieved I’m not the only one.
I would have thought most would regularly apply some organic compound spray to eradicate the algae or at least scarify the surface of the concrete to get more surface friction. But then I could imagine an old cobber of the boat club ripping me a new one about coming in at low tide.
..........
Exactly.

Driving into town this morning sticking to the speed limit and a gentleman passes me in the outside lane on an electric scooter, obviously a grunty one but still only had the tiny wheels, my neighbour has one with bigger.
Come to think of it, as I negotiate the cyclists and scooter riders in Federal St breaking the 10kph limit for the shared area (by a factor of 2 at least) every day, I'm amazed at how unconcerned the many pedestrians are as well.
We really are an optimistic species at heart, I guess that explains the whole motorcycle thing.

Giving slingshot the boot after a debacle of a switch to fibre last year. Even contacting the buggets to give 30 days notice of non renewal was painful experience.
Recommendations anyone for fibre broadband?
