Trade me, have they just given up?

Call me a dinosaur but I still use Trademe and it seems that some of there faults have remained for months and months, like they have just given up on caring that their product is not right.
On many auction you cannot use a sell similar item option for example, on others I'm unable to do a fixed price offer.
Anyone else pissed off with it??

    This seems appropriate.

Do you have these little gems stored away in a wank bank sort of folder or did you spend nearly two hours frantically looking for while still in your pyjamas?

Typical for a near monopoly business model. Fakebook market place must be putting a good dent in revenue so they prob can’t afford to address all issues.

Somewhere out there will be a young fella designing a new app platform as everyday technology makes it easier to address changes in consumer demand and bring something new out eg who’d have thought China would come up with Temu and muscle in on Amazon and alibaba/ebay….

I have hated tm ever since they moved away from the original browser setup that was so much easier to navigate.

Still I recently sold a bike on there in under 48hrs so end of day it does work.

I am another dinosaur still using tardme. Which does suck.

I am too pretty to use Arsebook market place - I can't be arsed being raped and murdered. And some of the dross that people try and sell there is just awful.

Come on, where's your sense of adventure.

Tardme appears to be surviving mainly on the fact that they seem to still be the preferred option for real estate ads, otherwise it's pretty hit and miss whether you'll get any interest.

At least you can put a relatively coherent search into tardme, arsebook marketplace dishes up all sorts of rubbish that in no way resembles what you're looking for.

As for the people on marketplace, assuming you have managed to have some sort of coherent interaction, you still have the lottery of trying to make sensible arrangements to complete the purchase. My favourite is when you think you've got it all sorted, then complete radio silence from the idiot on the other end.

    It is standard shitification.
Big business buys a popular platform, then progressively make it shittier for the user while making it more profitable for them - until it falls over when enough people leave.
Trademe is still one of the best ways to sell a bike, but my impression is the rest of it is filled with sellers that buy off alibaba/express and the like and then flog it off on trademe.

I'm not a seller on TM, but I can near guarantee that the greedy owners will have been making it less and less attractive to sell on trademe through greed based rules and fees over the years.

I was a seller on ebay right from the early days and the same thing happened there, fees went up and protections for the seller were stripped away to the point dishonest buyers knew they could rip off sellers with impunity. At it's height for me, ebay represented 10% of my international sales, and but created 90+% of my headaches. My quality of life improved immeasurably when as a seller I kicked ebay to the curb.

I am looking for some stereo speakers currently (going def = need for larger louder speakers... and no I will not entertain the notiion that years of large, loud speakers have enhanced the deafness) and there is SO MUCH SHIT on tardme. I am filtering by "Used Only" now because of it.

I see you are in Christchurch, but as one never knows where each intrepid kiwi biker might roll up, may I be as bold to recommend that you visit Kiwi Dogs in Hunterville - no seriously. Not only does he make sensational hotdogs with super soft sourdough buns, also made in Hunterville, but he also sells second hand old school stereo equipment. He had a fairly nice range of speakers variable as of a few weeks ago. You can see some of the stereo equipment in the background in photo 2 shown at the link below. (big speakers are out of shot on the ground)

Don't think they sell stuff on tardme in this part of the world, just ends up in their big second hand shop. If it finds a new home rather than going into landfill, and I don't end up with a headache, that's a win.

Don't know what speaker snobbery level you reside at, but might be worth risking sexual assault.. https://www.facebook.com/share/1Xz1hvLDiX/

simple common sense, the one that pisses me off is classic and vintage bikes. on tm, you can't search by new or used, nor most bids,
it takes a bit of work to make it work selling, as you'll see by my piccie a few up there's still traffic through there and i'm happy with sales You can pull a bike apart, list 100 items, sell ten one week, 3 the next then keep relisting the same shit for a decade now, that makes searching a must, as is knowing what to list it as and keywords to get customers.

Not many private sellers on TM marketplace now, or they get swamped by 100 ads for the same thing.

I tried to sell a motorbike tyre on TM, no response. I had the usual problem on FB of a buyer who said he really wanted it, then never paid, but I had other buyers lined up and one of them came through. I'd be very careful buying on FB though.

I want something a bit gruntier than that, thanks though. Going to look at some B & W 683's tomorrow which look promising. I had their smaller cousin a few years back and really liked them.

Bigger speakers move more air so are better - even at lower volumes.
