Labour problem is they created the cost of living crisis and everyone knows it. National and co have brought down interest rates saving average kiwis massively on mortgage costs. Yeah they stiffer the cops on pay rise but actual public perception routine is law and order has been restored.
Labours two potential coalition partners are increasingly leaning towards more extreme side of their wish lists.
Then there the capital gains tax saga everyone knows how that will go
To top it off theyve got Jacinda prancing around world stage with book and movies which is reopening old wounds for those affected by lockdowns.
The next election will be crucial in whether long term this country becomes successful again or third world. Sad thing is no one party prob has correct policies to make it happen.

For sure, they went way overboard on both borrowing and subsequent wasteful spending.
I'm not sure how much national is responsible for interest rates dropping, I do feel the reserve bank went to high in the first place, but that is just my opinion.
Come to think of it, yeah, my perception would be law and order is better off now - well except within the police force itself, with pedos/bestiality fans being promoted and subsequently covered up, fake breath testing being done (over 100 police officers are being investigated after 30,961 alcohol breath tests were "falsely or erroneously recorded"), and now today in stuff, if you are a top cop wanting a promotion, you best be sending out a dick pic with half your uniform on if you want to secure that higher position.
Also, with everyone leaving the country (because nationals financial recovery is just too blindingly awesome to stay) we may need to start exporting our criminals to Australia if they are to be arrested by a NZ cop, as that is where most of them are now.
Maybe nationals 2026 election slogan should be, "national backs the blue, except you, and you, and you".

Also, I see national has taken a leaf out of labors book with wanting to raise employers costs then trumpeting it as if it is they who are dishing out the cash - where as it is actually employers like myself. In nationals case it is wanting to raise the kiwisaver limits, and the last labor mob seemingly raising minimum wage every few months, while saying look how awesome and generous we are
Well the greens do seem to have quietened down a little since their kleptomaniac and people trafficking days.
However, right when they need to be the strongest in presenting a united front - the Te Pāti party have been doing their darnedest to do the exact opposite in a spectacular series of own goals - of which the latest was choosing not to attend the hui on the matter laid on by Ngapuhi - what knobs. Clearly they decided that blowing their own foot off with a shotgun was such an exciting story, they needed to serialize it with just blowing a single toe off every couple of days
