since you are on KB, it is too late you have gone mad already, and welcome to the site

what is the history of the bike, is it possible it has been rewired prior to your ownership?

As for your wiring, make sure you are comparing the same model units, then trace the wires to confirm they are going to the correct points, don't worry so much what colour the wires are so much as identifying the curcuits correclty, it is not unknown for there to be colour differneces between different years,

so last night i removed the reg/rec

and heart jumping out of my chest pluged in the new cdi
and glad to say she runs perfect
so i went for a quick spin and its fine so i imagine a new one of those and im flying!

only thing is from all the fu@k'n around my plugs are fouled up

Only just seen this thread & not read too deeply.

So the regulator was replaced yes? What happens is the regulator dies & voltage soars often taking out the battery, headlight bulb, stator & the CDI.

Obviously you will have checked that the voltage on a running bike is less than 15V or the whole damn vicious cycle will reoccur.

Don't run oversized bulbs or run the oil level low. Always preserve nature, wear a helmet & don't fuk skanky hoes.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
