I seriously suggest you do if you can (the linkis right there). He bastardises the Star Spangled Banner while standing in the middle of a Texan Rodeo ring, full of Southerners...

I just about shat myself. There is no way in hell I'd rile up a large group of cowboys like that.

I didn't see the original airing of this woman singing as I wasn't watching the netball, but they brought her back for a repeat on Close Up last night. She said they had slowed the music down and she found it hard to sing in tune because of this! She sung the national anthem without any music live on air, first in Maori and then in English. The Maori version sounded okay, and in fact it sounded a whole heap better than the English one. Having said that, although she sounded better this time (I caught a bit they replayed of the original), she is still not what I would call a good singer. She is okay and could pretty much hold a tune, but you want someone who just about brings tears to your eyes no matter what song they are singing.

Tears of laughter just aren't the same...
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

The guy they had do it last night wasn't the greatest either. I reckon the auzzies do it to take the piss. Not the first time there has been some muppet attempt to sing it at a sporting event in oz. I can recall some other hack singing one a few years ago (can't remember if it was for netball or rugby) in oz.

    Maori woman has my respect!

I saw and heard both versions and I feel that the woman had guts and integrity and she was prepared to back herself.

To stand up in front of the nation and sing spontaneously without musical backing and sound good says it all for me, she won my respect and admiration.

I think the Aussies did a number on her but I suppose it could have just been an "accident", I doubt it!

The guy that sang the anthem last night was pretty pathetic too in my humble opinion.

The Silver Ferns are just not good enough and the Ruth Aiken has passed her use-by date, as have half the players.

NZ Netball will have to address the problem before the world cup or suffer the same results or "worse"! John.
