I agree. It sucks that you got caught but its very refreshing to see a post where someone isnt shifting the blame from themselves to the policeman/law makes/that car behind them/cat/dog/etc.

I hope you dont get done to hard. Best of luck with the court appearance.

so just to get that straight, if i get on here to ask what i may expect in the way of fines etc.., i should just expect several "haha that will learn you, speeding is wrong dont you know", naughty boy comments from a couple of wannabes!Instead of an idea of the actual fine etc.. I thought this forum was about bikers helping bikers.

pay the fine and know that your riding days are finished for aleast 3 - 6 months , possible ordered to do a defensive riding course before you can ride again, which my be something you do, before you go to court to prove to the court that you have made a effort to correct your problem with speed and hope they take it into account.

Any ideas what i can expect from the judge, fine and extra loss of licence?.Over 35 years of age,I have no history of court or any big speeding fines in the past.I note the max instant fine is $630 for 50kmh over, but i was wondering if i can expect more or less (considering i have lost licence for 28 days on roadside), anyone been through similar. zelto beating the feet now, cheers!!
Anything up to $1000 in fines and a further 3-6 months suspension depending on how well you grovel and what kind of mood the magistrate or JP is in.
Good attitude to it though, remember don't feed the trolls!
    Good luck

Yeah you should, and you are right - that's what this forum should be about (bikers helping). As with all public groups - we have both.

Like I say - pinch of salt.

No no, it's getting caught that is wrong.
Expect a fine of $630, plus costs of $130, plus Disqual for 6 months. You may be lucky and lose it for 3, but don't hold your breath.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Where abouts did you get pinged mate?

/edit - I've been done for similar, and a bit more. Never been lucky enough to avoid a charge of dangerous driving, well except when I was younger. In those cases I got about $570 fines plus 6mths loss of license.

It can be indeed, and I'm a bit surprised at some of the sanctimonious responses you've had. "There but for the grace of God", and all that.

Did I note that the guy who recommended running actually rides a 150?

You can hire a professional groveller to take care of that part of the proceedings for you while you sit there nicely turned out to demonstrate your great respect for the Court. At the same time looking truely contrite.

This may lower the tariff marginally but you'll pay more than the difference in his fees.

If your job hinges on your licence you should probably seek professional advice right about now.

    Best of luck

just outta greta valley, so a long way from ch/ch.Cop was from rangiora, decent enough bloke (could have pushed for careless and reg/wof 1 day over) so i have a bit to be thankful for.I did the pull over straight away yes sir thing, i think that put the careless/reg/wof thing to bed , said he clocked me at 165 but couldnt lock me in for a couple of secs and by then scrubbed a bit off.Heaps of cops up that way, can never travel from kaikoura to ch/ch without seeing one and usually 2 on the open road, such a nice day for ride though. They pick on that area.He even let me ride bike home when he could of sent me walking.Might put on a suit and try and get the 6 months down to 3. cheers

Yes, my last run in with the law was in that exact area, 167 I think. Unfortunately I didn't happen across such a nice representitive of the police force. I won't go into to detail but my bike and I made it home that night. Luckily taking into account the road/traffic/light conditions at the time the judge gave me the lightest punishment.

Only good thing is when you are through from judge and sentencing, the bailiff wil ask you if you can afford to pay now ,say nope and spread payments over time, best interest bearing account out,if your working will take minimum of $50 per week (was for me 7yrs ago),will come out of your wages not bank account too,i.e will go straight to court fines befor you see it via your pay clerk. If you were doing under 140km you have to pay it within 2 months and would be around $500 instant, this way you pay it off,but get stung court costs to do it,mind you at 153km,why not keep going the cops give up if it gets dangerous,no i'm not condoning doing a runner, but the brain dead boy racers know it and try it on.
