Loss of license also means no car driving as well.

Depending on how long you loose it for, ONLY after 28 days can you apply for a work license...

I just got busted at this speed, the cop instantly suspended my licence for 28 days.I also have to go to court, the charge is just the speeding, no careless or dangerous charge on top.
Any ideas what i can expect from the judge, fine and extra loss of licence?.Over 35 years of age,I have no history of court or any big speeding fines in the past.I note the max instant fine is $630 for 50kmh over, but i was wondering if i can expect more or less (considering i have lost licence for 28 days on roadside), anyone been through similar. zelto beating the feet now, cheers!!

Anything up to $1000 in fines and a further 3-6 months suspension depending on how well you grovel and what kind of mood the magistrate or JP is in.
Good attitude to it though, remember don't feed the trolls!

/edit - I've been done for similar, and a bit more. Never been lucky enough to avoid a charge of dangerous driving, well except when I was younger. In those cases I got about $570 fines plus 6mths loss of license.

This is what will happen if you do as I say.

1.) fine $700
2.) court costs $30
3.) 50 demerits effective as soon as the verdict has passed.

This is how to achieve the above, which is the cheapest and quickest option.

Write a letter to the court registrar saying something like

"I admit a plea of guilty to the charge of exceeding the speed limit,

please take into account the lack of dangerous or careless charges, my driving record (if it is pretty ok), the fact i have already lost my licence for 1 month and conditions of the road being empty etc etc

I have learned my lesson and will try to obey all road rules and laws from now on."

If you send this in when you get your summons, your court costs will be $30 instead of $130 and you won't have to turn up to court.

Oh and if you sell something to pay your fines, put the money in a savings account and pay them back $10 a week because the fine is interest free and you can be earning money instead of giving it away.

Hahahaha......yeah hold it on.....Reckless is a good charge....apart from that I purchased a wrecked bike years ago from a guy who ran, crashed into a van, killed the lady and was in jail. Worth the risk?

in yesterdays tauranga paper a guy was doin 157kph i think it was and got 3 months disqual and $800, his mate was doin 190kph and got 6 months and $800 and they both got told they were dumb asses!!

Then again, I have known JPs to hand down fines less than those for maximum instant fine, you never know your luck.
