No thats the damage if you crash.

Crashing and getting caught by the cops for speeding are actually different things.

If youre lucky youll get the same as the guy(middle aged, caucasion, very polite) on Motorway Patrol did last week, clocked at 160km/h in his recently modified WRX, they were road testing it. He got instant 28 days suspension then $950 fines, 50??? Demerit Points and $130 court costs - but no 3 month or six month DQ.
Cop must have thought he was going through midlife crisis.

Any ideas what i can expect from the judge, fine and extra loss of licence?.Over 35 years of age,I have no history of court or any big speeding fines in the past.I note the max instant fine is $630 for 50kmh over, but i was wondering if i can expect more or less (considering i have lost licence for 28 days on roadside), anyone been through similar. zelto beating the feet now, cheers!!
You could try telling the judge that you have only just got the bike & thought the speedo was in miles per hour

nooo 153k is only 95 miles per hour , under the 100 mark on the speedo..... therefore as you were unused to the bike you hadn't realised the mistake.

Sounds like you were lucky enough to meet a cop that was reasonable - and you in turn seem like you have a reasonable attitude too..
Hope the JPs/Judge keeps that theme going.
    Good luck my man!

/edit - I've been done for similar, and a bit more. Never been lucky enough to avoid a charge of dangerous driving, well except when I was younger. In those cases I got about $570 fines plus 6mths loss of license.
was that because you only one hand on the handlebars? had to ask...

I suspect not as you would more than likely be speeding

lol nice thought but you would be insulting the judges intelligences so that's not really in damage control mode

Yeah & if you do continue that theme it will go along way. Many moons ago I got busted doing 170Km/h in a car. All the conditions were perfect, the car was a soopted up sports car, very suited to the task, the roads were clear of cars (10pm on a Sunday night). It was a real nice piece of road, straight for miles with very gentle corners etc and very dry....anyway, I passed a cop doin 170 (slowing down too I was) and I pulled over, sat on the bonnet and waited for him. He was well impressed I didn't run & was very appreciative. I was polite to him, we chatted about the car (he was interested in what work had been done to it etc) so I showed him under the hood. He wrote out the ticket and I said thank you and have a good night. When I got to court I wore a suit, I stood there with my hands behind my back and my head down (not too far down) but enough to look full of remorse. They read out the charge & asked if I had anything to say for myself, I looked up and said "there is no excuse for what I did your honour". They fluffed on a bit more and once again asked the same question. I repeated the same and added that I was very sorry that I was taking up the courts valuable time with my senseless act.

At that time (1996) the max instant fine was $490 (51Km'h over any posted limit & your up for a lot more than that + loss of licence). I got ordered to pay $350 + $90 court costs & made to resit the theory side of my licence.............that's it. Part of there lenience was due to the fact that I pulled over quickly and was not only polite to the police officer but showed respect to the system in court. It goes along way

The funny part was I failed the theory & was unable to re sit that for two weeks, so I actually lost it for those two weeks lol

All the best with the courts & remember your body language & clothing will speak volumes. You get only one chance at first impressions & it really isn't hard to stand out from the usually bafoons that fill our courts
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded
