1100 Kat's are getting to be very rare now, and if found, not cheap !!

    Good luck with your hunt

They sure are. I bought a 750SF Kat for dirt cheap about 3 months ago and I wouldnt change it for anything.

I want to do it up though, but I cant decide whether or not to go the whole hog (strip it right back to the frame and re-paint everything) or just do the visible stuff.

Already Im planning on repainting it the original white colour, and getting some new decals put on it (how come a few stickers are so expensive?) and getting all the cracked side panels and fairing fixed.

Best of luck finding a Kat to do up. They certainly are talking points these days. Im not used to random strangers comming up to me and asking about it and how well it goes because they are thinking of buying one/own one/used to have one etc.

Good luck with your search (even though I cringe when I hear of people bastardising them). I don't ever plan on parting with mine.

You and me both katman. I don't reckon they look right with a 17" front wheel and modern mudguard.

And btw, a GSX750F is not even in the same ballpark as a proper Kat when it comes to sex appeal.

Sorry, just realised you're talking about a pop-up. They at least come close to the real Kat in the sex appeal stakes.

Its the sexiest bike I've ever owned. That said Ive only owned 2 bikes and my last bike was an 81 GS250T that Oakie managed to describe pretty well as a POS. That said atleast my POS started outside the supermarket. I did offer him a push though lol.

I was looking for a center stand for my bike on trademe and there was a guy that had one that might have fitted so he put it up with no reserve and a $10 starting bid. I stopped bidding at $15 it wasnt worth that much to me. The bloody thing got up to $61 for a center stand. WTF.....?

Hey Orangeback (or anyone else for that matter).......
Over 20 years ago I had a GS650G Katana and loved the bike. Unfortunately i put it into a horse and it was written off and I was off bikes for about a year. i have a hankering for a (an old) Katana and was looking at the one on tradeMe. You state that being a jap import it is not as desireable and it is overpriced. Also recently there was a nice pop up headlight on TradeMe which did not sell. I am interested to know what you would look for and see as desireable in a 750 Kat and what sort of price ranges one should expect to pay. I am not interested in a project at this time, but something reliable and rideable that could become a project in say another 10 years. Any contributions appreciated. thx.

My workmate bought that one after the auction ended, it is nice. I sat there popping the headlight up and down, so cool.
