Who stocks Yamaha Maxi scooters?

Went to have a look at Burgmans today which I really like. However some of KB's have said, in the past, that the T-Max or the Majesty would be worthy of a look. Despite some searching I am yet to see one.

So does anyone know who would stock these bikes in Auckland? Or are they on order only?

red barons have a fwr maxi scoots should still have the 05 exec 650 that i had a play with a while back if so test ride it and any thing else that you like go to colemans while you at it and have a look what they have.

Went to Colemans on Saturday for a tyre kick. Forgot that their sale was on as there were heaps of people there. Had some good deals on AN250's, down to about $8500 plus ORC. Still think I'll go for a 400 or bigger. Might go and have a look at Red Baron and that 650 (just to waste some time).

Still sucking those oil wells dry?

why a 650 'scooter'? (for lack of a better word) why not get a 600(ish) cruiser? easier to ride/better luggage capacity? just personal preference?

my 650 burger has tons of storage just under the seat yod go and have a look at one even take it for a ride you will be suprised with it.

Hi Yod, just wondering too...what would make a 600-ish cruiser easier to ride?

you misunderstand

what i meant was, did the chap i asked find the scooter easier to ride and/or better for luggage and/or was it just personal preference.....(as opposed to a 600(ish) cruiser or similar)

My apologies, Yod, I did misunderstand.

Since I have only ridden scooters up to 200cc and one 250cc motorbike, I am always on the look out to learn/read about new things - like maybe cruiser/maxi scooter similarities or differences.

So Pogo2, did you find your maxi? I saw them at Red Baron too when I was there last week. Is it goodbye to your TRex?

Yes I still have the T-Rex. I have yet to ride a Burgman I just like to look of them. I have sat on one and the seating position was very comfortable. I especially like the back rest. I have own big bikes before ( a BMW K100RS for 11 years) but just fancied something different including the ability to put 2 feet flat on the floor. Also can't be bothered with a chain etc - used to the Beemer's shaft drive I guess (liitle or no maintenance). My other option is something like a Gilera Runner - really quite undecided at the mo.

I test rode a Runner and really liked it - nice handling, especially corners. It's a bit stingy on storage space. I'm curious about the Burgmans but feel a bit nervous of how bulky and heavy they would seem (after the Vespa ET4). Everytime I get interested in a scooter (or motorbike), my price range seems to be going up

so I'm holding off for now.

btw, what do you mean you can't be bothered with a chain?

did you find the Runner had plenty of power? Yes the Burmans are a little on the large size, so the size of the runner is a positive thing.

Re the chain -cant be fussed lubricating and tensioning the chain every so often. Twist N Go is so easy.

I agree, twist'n'go is appealing, especially for city/commuting traffic. I certainly appreciated switching from a manual to an auto car for that reason some years ago.

Yes I thought the Gilera had a decent amount of power. Of course we have to take into account that it is the most powerful thing I've ever ridden so it was always going to seem good in that respect. Since you've had bigger bikes, you might be in a better position to judge what you can expect from 200cc and 20hp etc.

I took it through winding streets quickly and also slowly, and did some slow u-turns too - liked the cornering at all speeds. I tried it over bumps - roadworks and up onto (not too high) pavement - thought suspension was a little hard actually but ok. It accelerated well from a stopped position.

I took it on the motorway and cruised happily at 105km. It felt like I could have gone 5-10kms faster if I tried (but I didn't). Didn't note the revs at this point coz I'm not very experienced on motorways and didn't want the distraction.

The under-seat compartment fitted my full-face helmet - but only just. Couldn't get so much as a muesli bar in as well though. No glove box or anything else. You can get a top box but the adaptor kit is an extra $160 apparently, plus the box.

Good info there. Good to know about the available space too. Burgmans have heaps of space though. Being able to cruise at motorway speeds would be a real plus. When I think about it what I would ideally like is the power of the Burgman packaged in the size of the Runner. Not really sure how I going to get around that. A big scoot would be great for weekends but the reality is that I need to strategically squeeze it into the company carpark without upsetting the people that pay for the privilege (and I dont). So we shall see. Like you previous post, when you look around with X dollars to spend you see something that you like for Y dollars. Just like houses etc really!
