I think everyones been overly paranoid......unless a post like this comes along:

    Dear Mr Plod,

Just to let you know that I've been having a hard week and need to blow off a little steam. To that effect, I will be doing my bike maintenance tonight in order to get out to the Bombay Caltex for a 9am launch time. I will be proceeding over the Bombay hills for a warm up, and will probably take things easy, but by the time I get to the Miranda turn off, I'll be well up to speed.

I will try to crack the ton at around 9:25am on the Miranda straights, and also be using the full width of the road by crossing the centre line at each of the flowing bends and will enter that little town where you turn off to Thames at around 90km/h, so I'll be well over the limit, I can tell you.

    etc, etc.

I really dont think that there would be many if any cops that would read posts on these forums in order to target riders. I think the ones that are out there already know where the good bike roads are and just randomly hang there on weekend days etc, hoping to catch a silly bugger having a moment of madness.

You be really tricky and tell Mr Plod you'll be at once meeting place then go to another one, and ride past the first one giggling as you ride past.

Can you imagine how annoyed the Police would be.

Or no show up at all and just leave a small note sayig "Ha ha - tricked you. No Police allowed!"

Wouldn't generate as many tickets as, say, staking out the straights on the ATNR route, but it'd probably halve the number of bins.

    I wonder why they don't?
Answered your own question a! Boss, manager, promoted because they get results that are tangible on paper?

In Oz the cops have drag cars and go to the races as part of their job to do PR work. Some guys from over there I know recon it goes down real well, I understand they have a bit more aggro from the street racers there than in NZ but the cops form the drags get a bit less stick from their "customers".

Nice post, good to mock those that think they are worthy of such scrutiny.

    They simply aren't that important.

You mean because he'll be riding alone, whereas following a large group would yield more revenue?

That uni bike ride you came along on Mav was advertised as a 100k but fine for learners ride, although it wasnt as publicly known as putting the post up here.

I doubt that cops would bother with this sort've thing, sure the possibility might be there if we were talking about really hoofing it, but at the end of the day its 100k and you have to learn to ride at that speed sooner or later.

Hell, if they were that intent on busting us, why not pose as a 250 rider I give general descriptions of a route, auckland -> Wellsford via the west says enough

    No.

Not after what happened on ATNR.

You obviously never met the bastard I had to deal with on my first and last 250 ride. Disgrace to the farce he was. I dare say had I been a kiwi yokel I'd have got it reduced by a few km's and he might have listened to common sense.

He gave us a riders briefing for about 10 mins and left us too it, guess he could see we were pillars of the community and responable bikers.....
