Mystery ride - West (and North). Sat 11 August.

OK folks, what do you think of this?

Leave Ashhurst 8.30 - 9.00 ish depending on Betsy's state of health, head out to Cheltenham (meet you there Barry?) via Colyton. Up to McKay Rd, down into Makino Rd, through Stanway to Pryces Line.

Down to Halcombe/Kakariki Rd to SH 1. Up to Marton (quick stop for English?), then north to the Marton Resevior via Tutaenui Rd, turn left into Makuhou Rd (this Rd looks really good) and down to Turakina Valley Rd and Turakina. Quick fag and coffee stop before heading up SH 3 to Warrengate Rd and Fordell.

North East along Kauangaroa (this looks like the really good bit) being careful not to end up in Mangamahu

Along Mangahoe Rd onto Ongo Rd (I know for a fact this is a good one too) and into Hunterville. Another rest stop then up SH 1 onto Vinegar Hill and home.

now this is just a thought...there's a bit of a loop i been thinking of doing since i went through the middle road - it basically starts in waipawa and heads up to havelock one way and comes back another - good looking roads

but im thinking (and this is only a suggestion, im quite happy to go with the flow on this one), the sun looks like it might actually be out and we might get some dry roads for a change over on the east side this weekend, where this side is looking pretty average so maybe we do an eastern run this week and the western next?

feel free to shoot me down mercilessly of course....

edit: we still need to figure out a route to get to and from waipawa of course but i have a bit of a plan.....

Google nearly got it, except it missed Vinegar Hill. I love those time/distance calculations, are they for pushbikes?

I'd rather do a dry run, and that middle road sounds like a good one. I'm out for next weekend tho, working. Let's see what the forecast is like closer to Saturday and take a quick consensus.
