QUICK notice for this WEEKEND RIDE (25-26 August)

    Quote:

When: 10 am Saturday 25 August (Shift to Sunday if weather is crap on Sat)

Where: Meet by the gym on Symonds St.

Departure: We will be leaving from the gym at 10.30 sharp so come early to makesure you dont get left behind.

Where to: We are heading up north, probably up as far as Waipu (about 200kms).

Is that it: When we get there, we will have a chat and see if anyone wants to head up further. If yes then we keep going, if not then we make tracks heading back!!

Who For: People of all skill levels are welcome. This ride is mainly targeted at learner riders but if we get enough people, we will split into two groups, alead pack and a joy ride pack, just to accomodate for the differences in skilland experience. A good chance to get out on the road to pick up some tips and get experience on open roads (and we dont mean open roads as in auckland city late at night when there's no traffic).

its just unbelievable that in EVERY ride there are newbies who will think "oh the "slow" pack thats sounds pussy" and will go with the faster packs and if nothing else will hold them up and make them have to stop every 10 mins to regroup!!

thanks steve for taking those bikers from todays ride off my hands....we were going so slow that the slow group caught up to us!!!

Took restraint for me to put myself in the slow pack when we went out to Kaiaua the other week. I just had no reference for how fast/slow I was relative to everyone else and didn't want to feel pressured to keep up. Have to admit my ego was screaming "WTF?? YOU'RE NOT SLOW!!! ".

No-one wants to be thought of as slow but sometimes you have to HTFU and admit you're not and ride within your limits. Sure it was a bit slow on the way there but on the way back I got into a quicker bunch and had a great time all round.

I think group rides are like corners. Slow in, faster out.

like you say it is all about enjoyment and when you hold up the whole group because you cant keep up then your killing it for everyone else
