Ouch - RVF's have gear driven cams. Pwned.

Real coffee at the Summit would make me stop there instead of heading for M'Boro.

Ya silly bugger,...me knows that, just trying to make the comparison between a "always leaking Guzzi" to a chain driven camshafts of an RVF.........

We paid them a visit on the way home for a coffee today. To ensure the place stays open, we thought we'd better do our bit.

Jim's OP confirmed. They're installing the new generator tomorrow. It has 3 times the capacity of the other one and these guys are in there for the long haul. Excellent!

The coffee was real expresso and really good. When the generator is up and running they're hoping to install a coffee roaster and make the whole experinece a quality one.

Am looking forward to when (if) they serve a Big Brekky Brunch on a Sunday

Yes indeed, but I've usually only just got "settled" by the time I hit the summit, (not far from Upper Hutt after all) so I tend to keep going to get a few more miles in before hunger and/or my caffiene fix steer me to Martinborough or Carterton.

Off topic (ish), on Saturday Bex and I did Upper Hutt to Wild Oats (Carterton) - then to Gladstone, - then to Marsterton via Water Tower Hill, then to Greytown for a break at the White Swan, then to Martinborough (to purchase a bottle of Stonecutter's wonderful Pinos Gris 2007) then back home. 210kms in all. Good blat despite the blustery conditions.

Yep thats right, they want to fit a coffee roaster for the gourmet coffee experience. And, get this, in Summer they also want to have bands playing on Fri nights.

I tell ya this place is going to be the bike venue of the North Is

I even splashed out on a muffin to go with my coffee today to ensure their continued success.

You cam email them at petition@disturbed.co.nz to give you support.

These guys THINK they're in it for the long haul. The lease expires in December. I suspect a conversation between the Regional Council, the leaseholder and the cafe operators is needed.

It looks like the guys up there are working hard and looking fowards to keep the place as a good spot for us all to use and enjoy.

I know hitchers impressions of the place may be spoiled by 12 yearold memories of when it was a shithole (Apparentley, I was probably playing with my lego at the time..)

Whatever anyone thinks of the place, they should forget because its changed alot in the last month or two and I recommend skipping up there to have a looksie and maybe grabing a coffee like grub to help 'em out.

They fancy coffee up there is pretty pricey $5ish but I must say it is really fucken good!
