Yep - have done it before and will probably do it again. A mate and I also did Tamaranui (sp), around back of the lake, Napier & back 1 day. Good ride!

Ok..never gone behind the lake before but i've heard murmerings that there is so nice roads round there.

Highly recommended, also better than taking State Highway north. Sounds like you need to do a 1000 miler - great way to discover new roads etc. Not that great for catching the scenery - quite dark for a fair bit of it

If my bike was a bit more comfy like say.....yours and Meanies I would do the Rusty nuts I reckon but not on this bike, i'm absolutely shagged after the 600K taupo block so I think a thousand miler ain't gonna happen...Not on the Ace anywayHighly recommended, also better than taking State Highway north.
