Cowpoos Race report!! mine feild 22-23rd sept

First of all an apology for the lack of a race report last round...as I did actually write one...but when I posted it...dam KB disappeared for two days and I losted it!!

Before this round the gixxer was sent up to RCM performance for long over due dyno tuning...took it up the week before and left it with boomer over night and both our bikes were taken away to RCM performance via Jas from www.motostyle.co.nz bike was finnished on wensday...fueling was richened up alot across the rev range and final power out put of the mighty superbike 120hp at the rear wheel!! [boomers stock thou made 150hp with a slip-on pipe!!] ...and thanks big time to GIXer [eddie] and team bent spanner for picking it up for me and bringing it down to manfield for me!! thats was awesome!!

So..I head down on thursady evening and crashed with the in famous kiwifruit at his taupo pad!! [thanks a heap bro!!] and I left earily-ish and headed down to manfield following morning to arive at a bout 10am...for the test day...eager to see how the bike goes after its tuning!!
After a few sessions I made a change to my handle bars as I was working on my riding style abit after being given suggestions from other racers that had observed my racing in the past...I moved them to a almost flat position...which I have found to love!! it feels like I fit on the bike better now and am more comfortable...testing went well...and I was feeling quite comfortable on the bike...and the conditions were mint!! hot day clear skys!!

Race day: nice early start to the day!! got up...drank a loverly coffee [thanks madduck!!] and watched the hive of activity around the pts for a bit then walked over to our garage and flicked the tyre warmers on...ready to go!! lol...

SS qualifying/SB practise: I was scrubing in new slicks...so went out towards the back and doodled around for a bit...before putting in some quicker laps..was feeling a little bit tired/stiff from testing the day before...track looked mint again!! and the day was warming up!

SB qualifying: out we go...I got out towards the front and had some good clear laps to knuckle down and try set a good time... I qualified 10th right behind chris [two smoker] qualifying results which I'm happy with considering the big names that were in the feild this weekend!! and the amount of full on superbikes out there!!

race one: lining up after the warm up lap I was a lil anxious because of the length of the race...and the lack of my race fitness...I had decided to just not to try and have a race plan as I knew once the flag dropped it would go out the window!! lol I made the first corner without loosing a single place...infact I gained one!! that is a first for me...mainly because the bikes motor is more sedate after the tune and less wheelie prone...I quickly settled in behind jay lawrence and chris sucich for the opening few laps...derek mcadam hopping around the three of us during those laps as he got caught up in a start incident...I was holding on to jay till about lap ten-ish when my fitness strated to suffer and I was loosing pace and a place...finally coming home 10th after a bloody long 25mins!! race one results

day two dawned a bit cloudy...and I was feeling a little bit under my best!! lol but looking forward to the day none the less...

SB race two: this was a 10 lap race...more of the sprint race I'm used too...and I was expecting a better result than the long race.. I got another okay start...and I was feeling really good out there after having a awesome dice with derek hill I lost a bit of energy but felt jay breathing down my neck a few times...and I thought I'ld let him through when I ran wide into higgans to hot on the brakes...only to find out after the race he did exactly the same thing!! phew!! I came home a credible 8th race two results

SB race three: another longer race...I was pretty nakered at this stage...and a little concerned about the fact drew had been givin eddies gixxer thou ex craig shirrifs superbike...I had a gut feeling I would be dicing with him...lol...and if the KB comunity hadn't already realized drew and I are rather compeditive!! I got off to a okay start and back dicing with derek hill again!! then drew rocketed past on a straight and left me feeling at a stand still!! FUCKER!!! I thought and put my head down and tryed my butt off to catch him...getting close at times under brakes and through the infeild...but only for him to pull miles from me on the straights..that and I kept stuffing my lines wasn't adding up to be a good result!! then towards the end when I was running low on energy glenn tanner slipped past... finnished that race 13th race three results ...drew was pretty impressive on his first race on a new bike... and wasn't worried about the oil slick on the sweeper left by a post classic bike like I was...he was powering hard over it down the straight...I was staying underneth it ever lap...and that reflected in the lap times easily I believe...

I have to say I totally enjoyed this weekends racing...and most of all the people!! from all the people that helped me out....like sisterecho and colapop for helping in the pits both days and colapops cake ...helping racers in the pits takes a massive load off our minds!! and lets us relax! it helps in a big way!!...a huge thanks there...keystone19,madduck and keystone kiddies for letting me crash at the track in the camper!! and supplying good company and humour!! and a specail thanks to young ben keystone for farting lots in his sleep on the bunk above me all nite!! appreciate that one mate!! lmao!
Robert taylor and kerry for humour and suspension setup...and for outting craig shiriffs poetic side !!! what a bloody laugh that was!! again a big thanks to team bent spanner for bring my bike down!! and eddie and nicksta through out the weekend! HDTboy and two smoker for helping [or should that read doing] changing my slicks on friday night...team cudby and MSTRS and younatart for a beer and humour...chancyy for cake and hugs!...Mike for helping with sorting my brakes out and two smoker again for tha caliper lend...kickingzebra and bronza for helping and being handy all weekend and taing my bike home for me...
and everyone else that came by the pits for a chat and thanks for the support and company!! totally cool!! makes me so proud to be part of such a big community or awesome people!! bring on next round!!! and it would be awesome to see more supporters of the KBer racers there at taupo!! lets make it a big one guys!! organise some rides to taupo!! where ya KB shirts etc!!! and cheer your favorite racers on!! make your precence felt!! would be awesome!!

and also like to thank the people that help and sponser me: Dave anderson suzuki ALLTRAX motorcycle finance and leasing, motostyle parts and acc's,Sisterecho's awesome coffee and pitbitching company, colapops cake, hugs and bitching company...

I'll try to do a better job next time! I'm still learning stuff... and that was one of the big things for me.. learning stuff about lines and bikes... not that I'll be racing any time soon!
I just enjoy being there... hoping to lift the spirits sometimes...

Good write up Ryan. Not as much of your usual bullshit...
Pretty good results and cheers for the nice touch - the links to the race results.

Well done Ryan, those times are coming down and the results are getting better with each outing! The competition was pretty stiff this time round too. Congrats!
