BTW..... did anyone else notice the rather illegal telementry looking device on Mr sam smiths bike in kendogs pic???
It is NOT telemetry, it is suspension datalogging equipment that we download and view in the pits. In fact we only briefly viewed this once during the entire weekend.

To be brutally honest I really dont know. But it was out in the open for all to see, unlike say illegal cam profiles etc.

Sam ( as was Craig ) was there for no other reason than a very first shakedown run and roughing out suspension settings, any race ''results'' were ''irrelevant''. In Sams case we seem to have nailed 90% of the roughing out on account of the Yam having a very good swingarm and link design, in Craigs case 80% and only just by the last race. LOTS of horsepower trying to tie a rear end in knots on throttle application is a real challenge, beyond external clicker and spring setting changes.

The logger would have been of much greater help on Craigs beast.

to be honest I think its not legal at national level...not sure bout club scene...and yer...I don't really think anyone there would be paticulary worried either as either would have made similar results reguardless!! and yeah...craig sure did have the rear complaining about find a spot on the tarmac that could handle it!! man that bike could boogie!!

ps: thanks for your help in the weekend robert!! much appreciated as always!! and same to kerry!!

Datalogging would be classed as Telemetry in my books.

Telemetry is a technology that allows the remote measurement and reporting of information of interest to the system designer or operator.

Some examples of useful measurements on a race car include accelerations (G forces) in 3 axes, temperature readings, wheel speed, and the displacement of the suspension.
I would be careful about using it before having it scrutinised by MNZ. Though the off-line non real time access you speak of might mean its legal? An interesting point though .....

Hey kendog, Nice pictures, well some of them. I\'m not interested in what type of camera you use, nor am I interested if you have any pictures of me.

What I am interested in is, What eye you use for taking photos, How you stand, what are your thoughts of using digital? How does it make you feel out there? Do you ever feel the Zen of photography?

And why would you out there on your bike?

Datalogging isn't illegal in club racing. Only in nationals. At club racing its F1, F2 etc not the same rules as superbikes/supersport for nationals. Just the same as a 250GP bike riding in F2 or 125 in F3. At nationals thats not allowed but no rules in club racing against it.
