For an example of a rider "lucking in" a championship, see last year.
A rider doesn't dominate and win the title with 3 races remaining on luck!
And its always the whole package, always has been.
How many crashes has Stoner had this year? For a rider who was known as a crasher?? You watched any of the qualifying rounds? Stoner pushes that bike to the absolute max and rides the wheels off the thing, amazing to watch.
    Sorry, it was sarcasm.

What do you think of the talk about a spec tire? It doesn't seem to have been a bad thing for WSBK?

Makes me laugh though, all those that complain about the tyre brand domance this year and how it's really made the difference. How many times did you see a red cap being worn on the podium last year? Mitchelin was the dominat tyre last year, but no one complained about that!

That was as they were baking them right there and then depending on the conditions, now they have to plan what tires they will take before the weekend starts...... the rule change affected the reds as well they have just dealt with it better.

Hmmm, tyres ...... While the spec tyre works OK for WSBK, I'd rather not see it introduced in MotoGP. Who would it be, Michelin, Bridgestone, Dunlop, Pirelli, Cheng Shin .?
I'm not too sure how you can choose tyres before the bikes take to the track. Maybe they could choose tyres after the first days practice? This would be on the Friday night, and the tyres are then in place for the rest of the weekend insluding race day. no flying in special tyres for the race.

don't make him sound better than he is, it was/is 3 races left.

there was an element of luck for him tho'; being 4th choice for Ducati after their top 3 choices opted out. in that sense he's lucky.

looking forward to seeing Melandri on the 'sedici!

Again thats a stupid thing to say. Look at where their supposed first choice rider is. He'll kick Melandri's arse next year too.

dude, all racers have luck; good &/or bad..
read what i said - i included the word "element", ie - some. it wasn't all down to luck cos he & his family did some hard yards...but so have plenty of other young riders.

then again, what would i know? i'm with stupid.

They do call it the lucky country - certainly been pretty good having had Gardner, Doohan and now Stoner.
