Bloody silly day to be riding I might add. And I did 445km in the shit weather

Now who can guess where the first 3 pics were taken? Clue- Yes it was in the Rangitiki District but a lot closer to home.

It was surprising how much traffic was on the Napier/Taihape rd too.

Managed to catch up with mum and dad in Havelock North which was good.

Well done mate, you're a braver man than me venturing out on a day such as this one has been.

You might want trainer wheels on that CX there bonez? That napier/taupo gravel looks very zx un-friendly. Weather was a absoulte dog here today so I stayed pretty close to the couch after doing a hard days (2 hours) work.

Nearly all men can stand adversity and hard time, but if you want to test a mans true character, give him power....

Wouldn't call it brave. Stupid more like it. Really just a recon run. Almost over cooked it coming onto the gravel at the Taihape end, then got blown over about 5kms before the end of Napier section.

Would be nice on a good day on a lighter bike though. Took a whole hour to straighten the CX out.

Pahongina Valley(west-first 3 pics) was a hoot, then left to Apiti, hang a right at Apiti, then on to South Main rd or something and come out on the Kimbolton/Mangaweka Rd.
Manaweka for a wee stop/pic then on to "tippy toe" rd (there was as a Goldwing same vintage as the CX coming the other way), Taihape then Gentle Annie.
Spotted a few other roads to explore. The sealed sections either end of the Napier/Taihapi rd are real teasers.

The CX performed like a trooper, damn comfortable. Was a real effort keep her upright on the return to Palmerston North. I had to tuck in behind a large camper bus for most of the way.

Wow that looks like a good road! I was highly tempted to join you today but after being out with a certain Ashhurst lad last nite, I was feeling like a lie in. Twas an excellent nite tho, and looked like an excellent day. I felt like leaving the Triumph at home, so pillioned Sarah around on the Honda for a latte or two, then fired up the Gixxer for a ripper of a ride over the Saddle then the track. I'd forgotton how well that old girl really goes! Glad you had a good one!
