SkidMark's KB taupo trackday 6 report...

    What a day woohooo

started off in slow after doing a novice thing to decide what group i thought slow would be best..started off getting creamed.... but then worked my way up...by the 3rd session out i was one of the fastest in slow group, but not hanging off the bike....i just really hate hanging off....in the past had always made the bike feel unstable

had to take off the sidestand as it was scraping very very early......

but then a fella glen williams...taught me lines around the track..... so then yeah learnt those lines...did another session in slow.... (cheers glen bloodey awesome bloke you are)

then came to pit...got told your too fast for slow youve gotta go in medium...it scared the heck outta me but i went in medium.... and FROSTY said i needed to learn to hang off....glen was a bit busy having lunch and said hey go have a play and ill come out next session.... so sweet as away i went with some sliders which westie gave me just incase..... (cheers bro ...sorry for errr read on ull understand) lol

so out i went....got to turn 6..... bwarr..hanging off..was peg down..stuck me knee out a bit.....graaauuuunch...OMG knee down yayyyyy! first time ever!

from then on i gradually build up till i could knee down every corner ....by the end of the session...i had worn off the bits under my pegs...... knee sliders wernt as nice as they used to be....

i was getting her so far over on the last turn before the back straight.....that my knee was down sandwiched between track and fairing! i was just like holy heck.....while peg down...and as it turns out...my fairing was scraping the track too.... oopsie LOL my poor fairing haha

the following link is a photo of the scrapes on my fairing from getting her over....

    i am a riding god....

damn what a day so thanks to everybody and especially thanks to FROSTY, Glen Williams, Jasmine (meekey_mouse) and her family for giving me and the boys a roof over our heads for the night, and to paddy , i probably snored all night lol ,and a biggg thanks to Brett , craig and ian...for the lift down and Ian for being such a good bike balancer while i got my stand haha

oh and of course westie....for letting me detroy his poor sliders

    yeehaaa

edit: heres some piccys, these are earlier sessions hopefully somebody will have pics of me knee down....

edit again: when we got into taupo saturday night....nice n warm in the car.....aircon was on not heater....hop out at gas station.....holy heck !!!!!!!!! it was a quick run for all of us to flip open the back of theute and reach for jumpers and jackets! blimin heck...

now for better suspension and a bike that doesnt have such a low peg/seat height... any lap times or were you riding for show ala skidMorcs

where opinion holds more weight than fact.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

i had it so far over i scraped my fairings just below the alternator cover....

and thru hairpin onto back straight had fairing...knee and peg scraping..with no more lean to go..leg was hard against fairing and on the track too...

gunno raise the rear shock right up and hope that makes it so i have a bit more to go...

Dunno what the lap times are like in street stock anymore. But IIFC last season when i was in streetstock (we were running the super tight chicane coming from the new track onto the old, which they dont use now) I was doing around 2min flat on the 150.. so ZXR should be easily capable of a 1:57 on the track layout it is now.. Not far to go if you recon your already doing around 2 mins

Time to try racing eh mark..
