    Kyle's VMCC RD5

Well it was an interesting weekend.
My aim was just to get out there and have fun and not push myself too hard.

    Saturday
    Qualify
I felt average about everything and just gave it a go.
Qualified something stuipd like 20/24th. Oh well no biggy just going to work on slowly getting faster over the weekend!

    First race:
I GOT A GOOD START! For once i did it right.
I even overtook some people going down the straight.
I found that not thinking about it and just doing it is the way.
Ended up behind some guy on a ZXR for a lap or two couldnt get passed him and then he pulled finger and said bye bye.
I got stuck dead in the middle all by myself between the fast group and the slow group.

BT was a 1:37:00 - Considering i wasnt really pushing myself i was happish with this time.

    Sunday
After getting used to kinda pushing the bike on Saturday i went out there aiming to push my lap times a bit lower and trying to have fun!

Went out in scrub in following the big bikes and i swear i was doing my best laps that day right there and then!
I felt really confident about everything! and i loved it! I couldnt wait for the race (what was luckily not far away)

Got a bit put off that i was basically at the back of the grid due to my crappy qualifing.
    But tried to stay postive.

    Race 2
GOOD START! (Wow! Did i fluke that again?) overtook sereval people just off the start.
Had a bit of a battle with Koba3 and had some fun and we beat AJ so thats what counts! :P.
Felt that my body postioned sucked but i still had fun
BT Was around the same as the day before what was quite depressing.

    Race 3
GOOD START! (ok what the hell?!)
Had some fun for a few laps but then just got annoyed at not being up with everyone else .
Tried to have fun and just aim too get my knee down for the rest of the race. Didnt happen .
Got really annoyed and was swearing in my helmet and all out of it.
BT Ironically was a 1.36.8XX What is my new pb for manfield short track .

At the end of the day (Why couldnt it be the beginning!!!)
I realised i was being far too harsh on my self.
I realised my body postion sucks and need a massive amount of work on it - Im riding like its a trial bike almost (makes sense considering what i ride)
Im going to aim to get my body postion reasonable this weekend at the bucket meeting.
    Not pushing myself hard enough.

Still had fun! Bring on taupo!

Well done Kyle. 1:36 is a respectable time.
Of course I have to say that as I was doing 1:36's last round.

When you learn about that body position thing, come and teach me, because I SUCK at cornering position.

I have tried getting off the bike more, but it just seems to make the bike SO unstable, which is the last thing I want when trying to concentrate on taking the corner fast.

    Maybe we'll get some tips.

    See you next time.

Hey you didn't fall off either so that's a plus! BTW, you HAVE to scan those pics of Jas running over your face and put them on here. That's one of the best crash sequences I have ever seen. Actually you could ask Speedsport to send some low res 640x480 150kb files for posting, that protects his copyright as at that res, they're useless for anything else.

The cool thing is that the scholarship programme has given you the looksee at racing and already you're nutting out the bits that contribute to going faster. The body position thing Iis really cool. I started using it to keep the toes of my boots from getting munted. That meant the bike was more upright which meant i had more clearance to corner .. so you can see how it progresses

Good report Kyle, I'm sure you'll get the body position thing sorted

I was watching Slingshot's You boat video from Sunday and you were looking good out there, I saw you ride around the outside of someone which was pretty cool

Sam right the idea is to get the body weight to the inside from the look of your riding on Sunday it looks like you've got the idea. I forgot to ask did you hear me yelling at you going around the top corner?

    Nope didn't hear ya!
Should try snap a shot with your knee down and you waving at the camera . . - Now that will be cool. A bit like em motard guys who are sliding the back with there knee down and waving to the camera .

I need to get a new bike so i can practice them wheelies!... Should be racing against ya next month... Can't wait!
